3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mzaar (442) - Varberg, SWEDEN - MAY 7, 2012

Carbonation low, slick mouthful. Finish is dry, roasty, plums. Average, drinkable. Again some notes of veggies typical for Brewbaker dark beers/stouts.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Idiosynkrasie (520) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAR 18, 2012
750ml bottle. Dark brown with a nice creamy lacing beige head. Slightly mouldy sourish dark roasted malt aroma. Taste begins with subtle sweetness, then roasty dark malt dominates. Oat is clearly detectable. Lacks a finish almost completely, only a minimal coffee note remains.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 EithCubes (3339) - GERMANY - MAR 17, 2012
Big bottle for St. Paddy’s but it’s German, not Irish (story of my life?). Label’s green, though. Sweet nose filled with roast and a little chicory, has a lot in common with good, daily coffee. Some deep chocolate. Murky dark brown body with a creamy light brown head. Thin, watery body with hard, brittle roast and a ton of tasty coffee acidity; good coffee aftertaste-bitterness with some astringency, and a touch of ashy in the aftertaste. Slightly sweet but not anywhere near what I was expecting, and there’s a squirt of oaten oiliness. Clean and stylistically pretty textbook. Good but not exceptional, easy to finish a bomber but probably wouldn’t want any more.

Dark brown with a thick head. Nice roasty, oaty aroma with nice chocolate. Smooth, chocolatey, silky oat body. Nice roasty coffee flavours. Pretty damn nice oatmeal stout, very sessionable...you’ve got think there aren’t many better stouts in central Europe.

At brewpub. Black and thick with lasting brown head. Smells really rich coffee, toasty malts that are well-expressed. Lingering roastiness after a succulent coffee flavor and a nice medium-sized creamy body. Well done. German, wow. Starts creamy oaty and sweet coffee mocha. Smooth transition to tasty toasty chocolate malt.
