COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed from All Aussie grains and hops, this little ripper showcases the amazing aromas from Australia’s first flavour hop; Galaxy. Using whole Galaxy cones gives this ale a real fruit-driven nose, and nice mellow afterbitter. Packaged in the Warwick yellow of the HK era, we toast the legend that is Monaro. This completes the set of Classic Aussie Muscle Cars.

Bottle. A lot of carbonation. But a pleasant malty palate, carrying some caramel. Hops are quite subtle, adding just the right bitterness.

Pours amber with a massive head. Nose shows stonefruit in abundance, big nectarine and peach notes! Also kumquat marmalade. Pretty nice, quite unusual. Underneath is some faint caramel. Very similar flavours in the way of fruity hops, however the malt becomes more expressive too with soft bready characters accompanying the heavy-handed crystal malt. The finish is a bit unpleasant, with a harsh, metallic bitterness I’ve often found in beers using new-world hops for bittering - I wouldn’t be surprised if Galaxy was used for this purpose, not just for aroma/flavour. Body seems a bit syrupy. Overly sweet (think orange and nectarine cordial) but pretty decent.

330ml bottle. A good strong bronzed amber colour with a crackling dirty white head. Looks solid in the glass and carries some caramel and butterscotch aromas which are pleasant. Good texture and mouthfeel with a dryness on the pallate. Pretty good.

From a 330ml bottle on 11/8/2011. Pours golden with a medium head. Has a gentle but pleasant floral, fruity aroma (apricots) with some bready malt notes. It starts out with a sweet fruitiness, some honey, and a touch of yeastiness, which is quickly overtaken by a sharp citric bitterness. It finishes with a more muted sweetness. This is an usual brew, from the curious marketing/packaging, through to its quite distinct flavour and character. Good stuff.

Pours a deep golden with a small white head. Aromas of dried fruits, honey, hops and sweet malts. Much sweeter than I was expecting, sweet malts and hoos, caramel, honey. Not half bad

Sunburnt golden body with short head. Floral aroma with some light malt notes. Hops in the taste gives more in the bitterness than the flavour, that said neither really stands out, medium body and medium low carbonation. Easily drinkable and would be great for a session but not a standout to me.
