COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Beer inspired by the Belgian Wit beer style, this ale exhibits a pale straw colour from the soft wheat used. It has a very white fluffy head, its aroma fresh, with orange zest dominating early over spicy subtle coriander notes. It ranks as a half wit, due to our liberal use of malted wheat, instead of raw wheat, and employment of Australian (non-phenolic) wheat beer yeast, in place of a Belgian yeast strain, to give it a ‘home grown’ touch. The Flavours of Hoes Garden are light and fruity throughout, the bitterness low to moderate. It has a light and creamy texture, finishing with flavours of freshly leavened bread. Like all good Wit beers, it is served cloudy, preferably mixed prior to pouring, and best served very cold. (2ºC)

ALLOVATE (2281) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - DEC 31, 2010
A bottle I picked up back in late 2008, held onto it this long I suppose New Years Eve is as good a night as any to knock it back!
Into a goblet, chilled. A mild haze to its dull, sandy yellow body. Nice conditioning sees a fine bead raise a sheened, compact white head that holds well. Mildly camphorous, herbal nose licked with caramel, haystack dust, lime juice and marmalade, interesting as the coriander has all but disappeared. Lemon candy and coriander seeds, rough bitter herbs and a little vine clippings on the palate. Races well, the body light while chilled but fills out as it warms. Mildly sweet, yeasty bread in the aftertaste joins in with all the flavours of the palate. Good balance of flavour but its not too demanding a drink, evidently lacking with the use of an all versatile Aussie yeast strain and malted wheat. A little watery thin too. Pretty average stuff from these great brewers. (33cL, OT44, no date stamp, The beer Store Morley)

...I thought this said "hefeweizen" on the bottle. Anyway, another from Purvis-fest. The only thing I did appreciate from this was the apple nose. Otherwise, complete shit. Spend your money elsewhere, but at least I didn’t have to.

Funny name. Sulphur note on nose slowly disapated. refreshing beer but lacked wheat yeast character and probably not to style. Very refreshing though.

a mess of a beer. like coopers pale ale with coriander. ugly. empty, dusty aroma with faint burnt rubber and coriander. empty, watery palate with nothing in it except for a yukky combination of soapiness and POR. bleugh. rethink this recipe brewboys.

bluevegie (3042) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 18, 2008
Clear light golden body with a good size white head. Citrus and straw in the aroma. I sometimes do like the orangey taste in a Belgian Wit and this one lacks that and probably needs it. A little yeasty in the taste plus some soft pepper, fairly smooth and seems a little dusty also. Easily drinkable especially the second tasting but doesn’t turn me on.
