Bottle. This beer tastes nice, it’s just a shame it smells like vinegar... The vinegar comes through a little bit in the flavour but it’s integrated nicely.

Pours a very dark brown with a fine tan head. Nose is slightly sour, vinegary, slightly burnt sugar. It actually smells quite like still fermenting grape must. Flavor is less sour than I was expecting. There’s a bit of tartness, some chocolate, a fair bit of coffee, definite vinegar flavor. Medium body. Interesting, pretty complex, lovely.

From a 500ml bottle on 14/10/2013. Pours a very dark amber with a small head. Has an interesting aroma combining roasty, chocolate and vinegar. This one has lots of flavour with sweet caramel, dark fruits (prunes, plums), dark chocolate, fudge and cola, balanced by a slightly tart vinegar tinged bitterness. The texture is a touch creamy and the carbonation medium. An interesting and quite impressive beer which is under-rated on here imo.

500ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. This was a good beer with a well balanced sour tartness that was over the edge. Dark colour with a slight head.

Certainly a unique Baltic Porter. And it is NOT bad! Aroma of berries, dark chocolate, plenty of olives and that oakish vein of balsamic vinegar. Very sour flavour, with chocolate sweetness, some Karamalz, vegemite, framboise, some citrus hoppy bitterness and again a sour finish of balsamic vinegar. Medium bodied, with a bit of a chalky texture. Apalling presentation, but a good beer experience.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed this beer. Balsamic comes out first in front followed by usual roast malts and slight coffee notes. Didn’t get a huge sourness from the balsamic just tasted like a really well balanced porter to me.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma - mild chocolate, vinegar
Appearance - Dark, dense brown..can almost see purple. Thin malt coloured head.
Taste - Broad sweet taste. Acidic tang at the finish.
Palate - Reasonably light body. Below average carbonation.
At 500ml this was too much in one sitting but I would certainly go again in a smaller serving. The balsamic becomes quite dominant after a while even the aroma. The sharp bitterness at the end of it just became a bit much but this is an interesting drop that I would recommend to the adventurous.
