A Balsamic Baltic Porter. It takes two freaks to think up such an idea for a beer. Two brothers in fact - one a brewer and the other a vinegar maker. It takes an even bigger freak to try this beer. Are you freak enough? Go on, we’re watching.

Tried at beervana in 2013 but couldn't finish it. Was like drinking vinegar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bottle. It’s a well made beer but I’m just not that into the balsamic vinegar flavour.

Vinegar on the nose mostly however hints came through in the taste. Interesting, a pretty good porter actaully

Bottle. This beer tastes nice, it’s just a shame it smells like vinegar... The vinegar comes through a little bit in the flavour but it’s integrated nicely.

Pours a very dark brown with a fine tan head. Nose is slightly sour, vinegary, slightly burnt sugar. It actually smells quite like still fermenting grape must. Flavor is less sour than I was expecting. There’s a bit of tartness, some chocolate, a fair bit of coffee, definite vinegar flavor. Medium body. Interesting, pretty complex, lovely.

Bottle from Slowbeer. Darkest brown, thin tan head, sour cherries, roast malt, burnt caramel, coffee, medium bitterness, medium body, silky texture, balsamic tartness. Nice.

From a 500ml bottle on 14/10/2013. Pours a very dark amber with a small head. Has an interesting aroma combining roasty, chocolate and vinegar. This one has lots of flavour with sweet caramel, dark fruits (prunes, plums), dark chocolate, fudge and cola, balanced by a slightly tart vinegar tinged bitterness. The texture is a touch creamy and the carbonation medium. An interesting and quite impressive beer which is under-rated on here imo.

500ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. This was a good beer with a well balanced sour tartness that was over the edge. Dark colour with a slight head.

Certainly a unique Baltic Porter. And it is NOT bad! Aroma of berries, dark chocolate, plenty of olives and that oakish vein of balsamic vinegar. Very sour flavour, with chocolate sweetness, some Karamalz, vegemite, framboise, some citrus hoppy bitterness and again a sour finish of balsamic vinegar. Medium bodied, with a bit of a chalky texture. Apalling presentation, but a good beer experience.
