3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours like a coffee - dark chestnut with a crema head most of which hangs around. The nose has rum & raisin going into Christmas pudding but also going down the Amaretto biscuit line. The taste has more of the raisins and rum and there is a persistent hazelnut note which is surrounded by milk chocolate. The palate is full bodied with a big tangy and creamy (and dare I say it alcohol) in the texture. The finish isn’t bad, though the alcohol is a little too much. Good though.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. Sweet and bitter beer with whisky character and a lot of raisins. Great brew.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
@ Basunen 15-6-27: lite torr doft. Smaken är stor av torkat russin och plommon. Mycket fin balans.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Systembolaget, bought in December 2012.
Dark brown with a small head. Aroma and taste of dried fruit, malt, port wine, caramel and some rum. The mouthfeel was thick and the carbonation was soft. Warming alcohol in the finish. Still a tasty one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, batch 218, enjoyed 2,5 years after bottling. Pours black, with a two finger thick, but fairly quickly receding, mocha head. Aroma is beautifully roasted malts, with dark fruits, bread and toffee, as well as oak barrels with notes of smoke and vanilla. Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is deep, dark roasted malts, which at first hits with intense whisky notes, rum raisins, wood and leather, as well as notes kandi, dark fruits, cocoa, coffee, molasses and pleasant boozy notes. Lingering sweet malty finish. I often find scotch beers a bit one dimensional with sweet roasted malts, but this adds interesting and tasteful layers on top of that.
