Poured from Bottle into Snifter glass. Pours a smooth black/brown with a thin tan colored head that remains atop the glass and leaves nice lacing down the glass. Aroma has some grapefruit bitter-sweetness, mild roastiness, bitter chocolate but I would say the hops definitely pop out at you. The flavor is sweet with hop flavor and chocolate. As it warms there are more citrus, roast, chocolate and it has a stronger alcohol presence. Its medium-full bodied and has a very slightly dry finish. Its a pretty tasty beer although I would have hope the body was a little more crisp and the chocolate flavor was a little more bitter.

Bottle thanks to a generous trader. Pours dark brown to black with a hkgaki colored head of foam. Aroma is burnt grain and a tint of sourness. Taste is grainy and sort of spicy. A hot alcohol aroma comes through strongly. A little rough of a palate.

Måste ha fått ett måndagsexemplar. Smaken lyfte kraftigt komplext men var väldigt spretig och visste inte var den skulle landa. Lite avslagen och unken i eftersmaken.

Aroma is rather hoppy with exotic fruits, some nettles and hints of gooseberry bush. Flavour is slightly sweet with rather aggressive American hops, exotic fruits, nettles and an ashy feeling. No signs of pils here, but good stuff anyway.

Off the charts. My favorite beer ever. Still looking for it on shelves but I’ve cleaned out my local shops. Solid brew, heavy but hopped heavy for some lilt in the mouth feel. Blackberry, blueberry, oaky malt, an almost medicinal feel on the palate and it seems to have restorative properties for the body.

Bottle from Windy City. Roasty nose. Quite hoppy. Seems to have a strong woody character. Strong roasty/malty flavor. Very full and tasty. Very solid.

Bottle from Ibrew2or3! Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of wood, vanilla, whisky. Taste is sweet with some alcohol burn. Medium bodied. A little harsh, but good. Thanks Dave!

A - Pours a dark brown-black color with a finger of frothy khaki colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate and dark malts with some earthy and citrus hops, some licorice, and a bit of coffee, dark fruits, and booze. T - Starts off with some roasted chocolate malts with some orange and citrus hops with a bit of black licorice and coffee. Through the middle, some earthy hops and bitterness comes through with some dark fruit sweetness, nuttiness, and some dark caramel malts. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate and coffee with some dark fruit and a bit of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and slightly thick with a sweet and warming finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice mix of dark roasted malt character and lager smoothness. Good overall balance and body.

Opaque black beer. Frothy tan head. Milk chocolate malt nose with a little emulsion paint. Smooth palate, semi soft and semi dry. Smooth dark malt, rich and with a sweet woody note. Very subtle red berry fruits in the mid before an intense bitter coffee finish. Minerals. The finish grates a bit when cold, but as the beer warms up a little it dies down and the oakiness and the red fruits become more noticeable. Very nice beer.

12 oz. bottle from alexsdad06- thanks again, Brad! Pours a deep, basically opaque brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of dark chocolate, wood, dark, burnt malts, pine resin, and something like butterscotch or vanilla. The flavor largely followed suit, having a bitter bite underneath a lot of roast, earth, and a little balancing sweetness. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation. Never had one like this before. I’m not sure it totally works but interesting to try.

Bottled. Poured medium-deep brown with a short, tight-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up slightly sour sherry, black cherry skins, and oak over chocolate and ashy black malts.. hops seemed to be broken down, which isn’t surprising considering its age. The flavor found similar stuff.. sour, dark vinous notes and ashy roast throughout.. grainy essence of earthy and citrus bitterness around.. finished sour with nondescript residual bitterness and belly warmth. Medium-bodied, sour, scratchy, and bitter on the palate.. the flow was OK at best.. I hear this was good, so hopefully I can try it again sometime.
