COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
keg and bottled, special
Brewed in collaboration with Jeppe from Evil Twin Brewing (and named after his mum), this Double IPA is big on fruity flavours.
The latest instalment in our “Hello My Name Is…” series, this beer has been built on the same robust malt base as its predecessors and single hopped with Mosaic for lots of tropical, passion fruit and citrus flavours. Loaded with well over 100kg of blueberries, this is one super fruity hop bomb.
Malts: Extra Pale, Caramalt, Wheat
Hops: Mosaic
Twist: Loaded with heaps of blueberries

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 11 Jan 2014) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of citrus, orange and caramel. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, grapefruit, apricots, caramel, hints of blueberries and a generous citric bitterness. Almost full body, with a slight sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, with the berries more in the background than in some of the sister brews, but still quite evident, more so in the taste than in the aroma. Very nice.

Draught @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels. Pours hazy golden with a small creamy head and lacings. Massive piney nose. Fresh! Petroleum and pine. Smooth, dry and crisp with a good bitterness.

Bottle from bieresgourmet,be webshop. So, the Queen of the series is up. Let’s see what kind of royalties the BD boys have in store this time. Pours a crystal clear amber-orange body with a small white head. Nose is tropical fruits, red berries, wet grass, fresh herbs and hints of blueberries in the back. Taste is wet grass, fresh herbs, citrus, pine and mild blueberry notes far in the back, very little evident. Medium body and carbonation. Pleasant enough, but the berries have too much competition from the hops and don’t really come through. Pretty nice, though.

Bottle. Amber with a small head. Solid citrussy noseStill very citrussy in the mouth, but hints of blueberries manage to emerge, especially towards the finish. Nice and bitter.

330ml bottle (Pudel, Tallinn)
Horrible brewdog aroma, stinky pungent rat cage that hasn’t been cleaned since their latest piss-fight. Looked better, rich red, if a bit flat. Taste is a horror. Grassy hops, bitter, probably poisonous red berries. Does get less horrible after a few sips, but it’s still that horrible brewdog sticky sweet malt pale ale taste which I detest. Crystal malts? Soapy finish, a bit acidic. Quite horrible as a beer, no thank you.

Keg at Man in The Moon, Stockholm. Clear deep amber, small head. Minty, bready citrus aroma. Mid sweet with full body and gentle mouthfeel. Having disliked blueberries since childhood, I must admit that this inferior berry variety really marries well with this DIPA. Also, the beer is thoroughly harmonious with long but balanced bitterness.

Draft @ Hoppy Loft.

Beese (1099) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 9, 2014
Draft from BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush opening night on 29 November 2013. Poured a clear amber with a thin, dense off-white head. Aroma of sharp berries, caramel and cereals. Pine-like hop bitterness on the tongue with some sweet raspberries and aniseed. Finish was hop resin, burnt sugar and dry grain.

33cl bottle @ home, bb 09-10-14, #237. Deep amber, thin white head, low carbonation. Nice fruity, citrusy aroma, also more tropical, like mango. Some mild hints of blueberry pops up later, but could as well by imagination as I read the label earlier. Flavor has pine, caramel, dark fruity notes, bitter hoppy, fruity. Finish is long with a biting bitterness, some caramel sweetness and warming alcohol. No blueberries detected. Stuffy, tasty DIPA, really good.
