On tap at Rake with Sarah. Pours a clear chestnut with no head. Aroma has notes of resin and berries with a hint of sweet grain and booze. Reminded me a bit of cough syrup. Flavor starts with sweet grain and fruits and has a bit of bitter pine towards the finish.
2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 zimbo (334) - SCOTLAND - OCT 29, 2012
Confected soda pop nose. some Christmas spice. Orange colour, very fizzy with fast diminishing head. spice on tongue with a sickly sweet body.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 j12601 (5716) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - OCT 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours a just clear amber with ruby highlights and a small white head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells floral on the nose, berries and potpourri, sweet and faintly herbal, hints of heather. Smells like hippy soap. Which I guess is an oxymoron, but whatever. Medium bodied, sweet and herbal, overly herbal. Soapy and herbal, lots of twigs and berries coming through here. Overly floral, medicinal, herbal. Not all that easy to drink, lingering herbal notes. Not a fan.

33cl bottle at home. Pours amber, with a white and foamy head. Aroma of herbs, spices and a slight hint of alcohol. A spicy taste, herbal as well. Interesting as an experiment, but nothing great.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Yorker (619) - Århus, DENMARK - OCT 28, 2012
33 cl bottle @ home. Pours clear amber with an off-white head that leaves virtually no lacing. Aroma is spices, pepper, and herbs. Flavour is slightly herbal and spicy. Ever so slightly better than the Flying Dog version.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Bov (8268) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - OCT 28, 2012
from Erzbierschof - clear amber beer with no head retention; chewy malts and notes of red fruits marmalade; moderate carbonation and quite full-bodied; chewy mouthfeel, gently sticky, low bitterness and a long - quite cloying - aftertaste of red fruit marmalade
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Derek881 (869) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - OCT 26, 2012
Poured from the bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a ruby/copper-amber color, was mostly clear, with an average foamy white head with short retention but good lacing and cling. The aroma featured yeast, straw, and touches of grain and citrus hops, along with some light floral and spice notes. It had a fairly bitter and sour grainy flavor with bits of sour yeast and malt, and a presence of alcohol. It was a fairly well carbonation and fizzy beer, but was a bit dry and on the thin side.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 KyotoLefty (4777) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 26, 2012
Bottle from Craft Brew Base. Nose of caramel, raspberry, cherry, chocolate. Nice, grass, slightly minty and resinous. Amber-orange with lace. Herbal, piney chocolate and caramel flavor, fruit, earthy. Quite nice, working like more earthy type hops. No citrus, but more like an old school malty caramel IPA, decent bitterness, though it is not sharp. Not great, but interesting and quite drinkable.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 gyllenbock (3022) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 25, 2012
Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget, October 2012.
Dark golden. A strange beer this one also, as the Arms Race from Flying Dog. A lot of spices, thyme, rosemary and citrus. Very unbalanced and not pleasant to drink. No thanks!
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7835) - Bochum, GERMANY - OCT 22, 2012
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, amber colour with a mid-sized and tanned foamy head. Mildly toasted malty aroma with hints of caramel and loads of spicy notes, including ginger, mint, garrigue. Moderately bitter flavour, quite light body impression with a moderate carbonation. Slim cara-malt character with ethereally herbal spicy notes, most of all mint and ginger; slightly sweet and minimally sour-tart finish, again with present spicy notes. Perhaps a tad more balanced compared to its US-counterpart. Both are not my cup of tea. 22.X.12
