A fury of dots and dashes come trough the receiver. The translator turns in amazement. "A Zero IBU IPA by two breweries separated by sea?" His commanding officer lays a grizzled hand on his shoulder as his eyes narrow toward the horizon. "No bastard ever won a war by playing it safe, son."
The International Arms Race is a new type of battle collaboration between hardcore American craft brewery Flying Dog and BrewDog.
’Zero IBU IPA’ is an ale brewed with berries and herbs.

Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer topped by a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Lots of ginger on the nose, too much I think, hiding most of the other scents. Some caramel maltyness. It’s full-bodied, softly carbonated and with too much ginger. Some ginger warmth too. Caramel maltyness, and a generic spicyness too. Pleasant, but too ginger-ish that I find it pleasant. 121017

Bottle. Pours golden with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of ginger, malt, grains, licorice and herbs. Flavor is sweet and fruity with some candy, sugar, spices, herbs and ginger. Medium body, average carbonation.

Nice darker colour with some head. Aroma is grassy, dry and incense. Taste is almost spicy and the incense taste overwhelms the body. This is not too drinkable.

You’re right you know, it’s like bubblegum that is losing its flavour. Really disappointed with this. I hate disappointing people but I’m very poor. It’s all this craft beer I’m drinking. And nights out watching American punk bands. Beer for punks with no money, that’d be something to sign up for wouldn’t it scamps?

Yeah, this is not working... Pours a clear dark amber with off-white head. Aroma is, well, what you would expect: berries, fruit, maybe a hint of spices.Very sweet. Taste has caramel malt up front before a finish of, again, sweet berries. In between a fairly rich carbonation to add some element of edge to it, but overall, it ends up way too sweet.

330ml bottle. Pours a clear, medium amber, with an off-white head. Spicy, herbal aroma, spruce, pors, sage, thyme, caramel, malt. Dry, medium body, low bitterness, balanced CO2. Spicy, herbal taste, sage, caramel, toffee, honey, thyme, rosemary. Quite interesting. (2012-08-24)

On tap/bottle, Csakajosor, Budapest.
Poured clear amber with a medium pillowy head that slowly went to a small lacing white one. Freaky aroma with juniper and herbs, laurel, rosemary, pine, dead fallen leaves. Medium sweet flavor with pine again, juniper, herbs. Yes, this is not an IPA but very interesting, good one!

about what I expected. made a beer like this not long ago & tasted the exact same. The herbs used are pretty powerful and there is no getting around it. But always fun to take a step back to what beer was like before we cultivated hops on a massive scale.

Bottle from De Bier Konning, Amsterdam, Netherlands, consumed at home 11th October 2012 Pours clear light amber with a slim white head. Floral, fruity and with a sweet shop element on the nose. I have to say this is a little strange, soft in mouth, perfumey, touch thin, sort of like a watery, beery, florally soapy thing, I actually misspelt thing for thong initially, that made me chuckle, should have kept it like that...
