A fury of dots and dashes come trough the receiver. The translator turns in amazement. "A Zero IBU IPA by two breweries separated by sea?" His commanding officer lays a grizzled hand on his shoulder as his eyes narrow toward the horizon. "No bastard ever won a war by playing it safe, son."
The International Arms Race is a new type of battle collaboration between hardcore American craft brewery Flying Dog and BrewDog.

Bottled 330ml (Birger, BB 05/2013)
Clear copper color, steady beige head. Lots of herbs in the nose (oregano, tarragon), also some sweetish malty notes. Medium-bodied. Same herbs in the flavour plus some pepper. Fortunately in the flavour herbs and spices are not dominating so badly. Bready maltyness, maybe hints of liquorice. I’ve had similar Christmas beers before. Not too exciting.

A hazy orange beer with a small white head. Aroma is spicy and malty, with ginger notes. Taste is caramel malt and spicy, ginger, pepper. Dry and spicy finish. A weird beer

TEJA (1536) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 6, 2015
Bottle from systembolaget sweden. Short beige head over a clear amber color beer. Resin aroma from woody spices like false rosmary and wormroth. A bit caramell and spicy taste and low sweetness. A new and interesting spice beer.

Beese (2560) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2014
Bottle at BrewDog Camden on 13 Oct 2012. Poured a clear, bright amber, with a dense off white head. Aroma was big herbs, slight medicine and iodine, with floral notes and caramel. Bitter flavour, some almond, resin, spice, coriander and marmalade. Finish was fairly light; mineral, toffee, violets and chalk. Different.

Copper color with thin off white head. Malty herbal aroma (mint basil I think). Taste is boozy malt, low carbonation and herbs. I drank this one 5 months after it's best but date, which may have improved the flavor ofer what others have indicated. Spicy, peppery finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Serving: 330 ml. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a cloudy amber color with chunks of yeast settlingout and a thin off white ring for a head. The nose is minty and herbal with a little chocolate, wood, and something I can’t quite place. Based on the mouthfeel I wouldn’t guess the ABV is that high. A little limp on the tongue thanks to virtually no carbonation. Nice bit of mint, wood, ginger, something floral, and a little of that almost chocolate note. Not one I would like a ton of, but interesting. Glad I tried it.

Bottle from a PUB’R secret operative. Pours headless coppery with nose of sprucey hops, pine, vinyl, mild caramel. Tastes very sprucey, very unique, with caramel malt, hops, and a liquid band-aid flavor late. This one is a novel experiment, but not a good beer. This one blows worse than a new wife.

THOUGHTS: Wow. All spices and herbs. It smelled and tasted like a crazy Ricola. It actually reminded me of the recreations of ancient Scottish ales. Very interesting beer, but awful IPA. Slightly like a sahti, too. TECHNICAL: Drank 3/3/2013. Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, medium to dark amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished. The aroma contained. light caramel; hints of chocolate; Ricola; cola; flowers; herbs; spices; and some fruit. The flavor was a little watered down. The initial flavor and finish were moderately sweet and lightly bitter. There was herbal tea, ancient ales, cola, hints of chocolate, fruit, herbs and spices, and caramel. The medium body was a little syrupy with fizzy carbonation and a dry finish.

First off, bull crap on the IPA part. That’s just stupid, because it’s nothing like an IPA. It smells like roses, hibiscus, and lavender. The flavor isn’t has offensive, but really, it’s not good.
