Palate was full bodied and oily with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, rum, chocolate, liquorice, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had rum, roastedness and bitterness. Very strong on the Nose, first sip kinda taste a little watery, but the next one i could taste the rum. Toasty malt flavours. Very heavy, a great winter warmer.

A thick dark beer with an unnervingly white head(!) that seems to have avoided taking on any colour despite the roasted malts, high ABV, or aging in the rum casks. Sweet, buttery aromas, with some alcohol lingering, not much really (why is this beer kegged!?). Much mellower than anticipated - a buttery, cake-mix flavour leads the way, smooth and surprisingly light on the palate. Some apple in the finish, turning what was a fairly one-note sweet, malty beer into a surprising sour-finisher. Quite fun.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear reddish brown with an off-white head. Heavy sweet caramel, oxidized wood and booze. Solid body, caramel, vanilla, wood, whisky and some warming alcohol in the finish. Not even close to an Imperial Porter, I’d call this a Barley Wine - and a damm good one. 090212
