4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On keg at BrewDog, Edinburgh. Pours a very dark ruby colour with a thin, light tan head. Massive sherry nose with rum, dried raisins, dates and prunes with some Christmas pudding and alcohol. Similar flavours with dates upfront and raisins, prunes, maraschino cherries, roasty malt and dark chocolate notes. Mild carbonation with an impressive oily mouth-feel.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 Keg at BrewDog Edinburgh. Pours a pitch black, virtually no head. Aroma is creamy/milky, with liquorice and vanilla notes. Taste is similar, with a real creamy sherry mingling with it all. Thick and oily, pleasantly cloying. I like.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg at BrewDog. Dark brown black pour, thin tan head fades to nothing. Nose is big toffee apple, big brandy barrel, hint of booze, chocolate perhaps, complex but smooth. Palate is similar - viscous body, hint of chocolate, red fruit, slightest attempt at tartness, some coconut sweetness, thick treacle too. Boozy milky sweet finish. Interesting and massive. Slightly cloying but well-made.

14th December 2011
On tap at the Brewdog Camden. Clear dark red brown beer, no head. There is some carbonation in the palate however, providing a light crispness. Smooth creamy malt that has some lovely barrel aged characteristics going on. Trace of bourbon and a whisper of brandy. Red fruits join in along with a little toasted coconut. The malt turns a little caramel, slightly aged tasting - in a good way! Reminds me somewhat of a Firestone Walker Anniversary beer - complex but with all flavours in really good balance. A fine colaboration, very nice indeed!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at BrewDog Camden on launch day. It pours very dark ruby, with a thin tan head. The nose is dark fruit, port, rum, wood, alcohol, Christmas pudding and blackcurrant. The taste is blackcurrant, currants, raisin, black grape, liquorice, alcohol warmth, port and fig pudding. Full body and fine to lo low carbonation. A very fruity and tasty brew. My only (minor) gripe is that it could have a bit more carbonation.
