Kestral (506) - Årnes, NORWAY - JUN 1, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a fizzy tan head that fades quickly to a ring. Aroma heavy on dark fruits, sweet and boozy. Kind of caramely too. A little bit of vanilla and oak coming through. Definitely on the sweet and heavy side tastewise too, but the carbonation and burnt acidity cleans it up a little. Long burnt coffee in the finish. Medium body, wierdly enough fairly drinkable, which is dangerous. It’s good, but didn’t blow me away in any way.

Pours a very dark coor, almost black, out of the bottle. Mild maltyness to it with some hop character to it. Powerful taste that lingers for some bit. Lets you know you are drinking a beer.

Bottle shared with Adam in NH. Pours clear, red-brown with a small, beige cream head. Bready dark malt nose with caramel and other sugars, some ripe fruits, berries. Big sweet flavor with ripe and darkened fruits, raisins, rich bread, rummy fruits, berries. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot finish with berries, straight alcohol, caramel. Big and a bit boozy. Balance is all there.
