Bottle 330ml.

Clear medium to dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, wood, alcohol - rum - sweet rum. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, dark malt, rum, sweet malty, balanced. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20120316]

Bottled. A deep red beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, and malt. The flavor is sweet with malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a dry finish.

From tap at Brewdog Camden. Pours pitch black with no lasting head. Aroma is smooth roasted malty and dark overripe fruity. Thick chocolate malty and light liqourice touch. Smooth overripe fruity and dense dark chocolate malty. Mild spiced. Smooth and lingering dark finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear reddish brown with an off-white head. Heavy sweet caramel, oxidized wood and booze. Solid body, caramel, vanilla, wood, whisky and some warming alcohol in the finish. Not even close to an Imperial Porter, I’d call this a Barley Wine - and a damm good one. 090212

Bottled@Cosmic Comic Cafe, Turku (backlog from summer). Deep rubyish brown colour, close to black, with a small beige head. Aroma is liquorice, ripe dark fruits, some vanilla, mild alcohol as well as mild toasted notes. Flavour is chocolate, ripe dark fruits, liquorice, alcohol, toffee, ashes and some rather sweet vanillaish and a but rum like sticky sweet notes.

Bottle at Ungstrup. Clear red-brown coloured with a small beige head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and dried fruits with notes of liquorice and marzipan. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel and dried fruits. Sweet finish of dried fruits.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty woody rum aroma. Roasted malty woody licorice and caramel flavor with hints of rum. Has a roasted malty woody licorice finish.

Bottle @ Ulfborg Mid March Tasting, 2012. Pours dark ruby brown with a small off white head. Sweet rum and coke. Bacardi. Flavor is caramel and toffee. Cookies. Sweet and stciky. Warming alcohol.

The color is very dark, not completely black; medium sized head, reducing quickly into a thin layer. The aroma blends some roasted malt with chocolate, wood, and light firewood; original and therefore appreciated. Good body structure, less round than expected though; quite good flavor of dark caramel, with traces of chocolate, light prunes; the bitterness is correct; the alcohol is quite evident but not disturbing. The barrel aging in rum has added some layers of complexity, and it’s more drinkable than other Imperial Porters at a similar strength.
