2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Looks like a BW smells like a BW to a degree but really loses me on the taste. Not sweet at all and the barrel is really hard to get. No hops but that is how I like my BWs. Too much carb as well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very dark red body with an off white head. Strong, complex aroma with burned caramel, liqueur, butter, blackberries, grapes, honey, brown sugar. Warming, full body. Somewhat unbalanced flavour with sweet notes like blackberries and brown sugar as well as quite bitter pine notes, a hint of whiskey.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark amber color with a khaki head. The nose is malty with lots of caramel, toast, toffee, and a hint of brown sugar. Some wood and vanilla notes and a hint of whiskey. There is a touch of fruitiness as well as some alcohol. Despite the age of the beer, still somewhat hoppy/bitter. Mild oxidation, caramel, toffee, and toasted bread. Mild oak flavors to it and a subtle fruitiness. As with the nose, just a little bit of alcohol heat.

Cloudy dark-red brown beer, big frothy tan head. Light palate - dry and a little soft. This is a big beer! Port Wine and Brandy tones immediately obvious but held in check but surprising espresso coffee bitterness. The bitterness ebbs leaving strong spirity malt. Finishes a little dry with minerals, spice and a little cherry. Quite different from the original. Could do with some time though!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Kris Wines, some time last year. Pours dark red brown with bubbly gold head. Aroma is smoky, boozy, lots of dark fruit, wood, whisky. Intense spiky and spicy booziness. Taste is quite smooth though. Taste is very boozy, can really taste the wood and whisky of the barrel. Very malty, even with a touch of caramel like creaminess. There is some bitterness at the end, but this is overwhelmed by the booze kick. Bit spice too. Surprisingly smooth and drinkable. This is pretty nice. Probably wouldn’t have more than one in a sitting though!
