A collaboration brew between BrewDog and Mikkeller. This different vintage was brewed in 2009 with a 1/3rd of the beer being aged in a speyside whisky cask before being blended back with the base beer in 2010. The result is a 13.8% barley wine.
NOTE: This is a different recipe to the previous batch and is clearly labelled as Devine Rebel 2010. If the bottle does not say 2010, the rating should go under the first batch.

In bottle at Craig’s BrewDog tasting. Pours a dark amber colour with a thin yellowish head. Aroma of pine, pineapple, caramel and lots of alcohol. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Alcohol is very present again with moderate bitterness.

Bottle from Kris Wines, some time last year. Pours dark red brown with bubbly gold head. Aroma is smoky, boozy, lots of dark fruit, wood, whisky. Intense spiky and spicy booziness. Taste is quite smooth though. Taste is very boozy, can really taste the wood and whisky of the barrel. Very malty, even with a touch of caramel like creaminess. There is some bitterness at the end, but this is overwhelmed by the booze kick. Bit spice too. Surprisingly smooth and drinkable. This is pretty nice. Probably wouldn’t have more than one in a sitting though!

33cl bottle. Pours a dark cloudy orange with a small head. Smells divine, of prunes, caramel, red berries, wood, and a slight hint of whisky. Tastes of a heavy bitter, medium tartness, and medium sweetness. Pine, prune, acetic, and heavy alcohol. Texture is oily, carbonation is medium, body is medium. Finishes quite alcoholic, with a large bitterness, Interesting, but mostly a one-time beer.

Pours a brown with a light brown head with not much retention. Huge alcohol punch, slightly fruity malty flavour and a hint of oak. Thick on the palette with lingering malty flavours. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the BrewDog website. A dark red beer with extremely rich red fruity whisky like flavours and an extremely powerfully alcoholic dry malty hazelnut and vanilla finish.

27 jan 2012, bottle. Ruby w a pink notes. First whif had something of oak barrel in it. Ever since all I’ve gotten is sweet, meaty ale. Med/full body and a bit fizzy. Slight dry woodiness (that especially comes out in the finish), winey, wet, alcoholic raisins, fermenting bread. Nice. A little tartness in there certainly makes this unique.

Good head declining to a British type head as appropriate. Medium carbonation, amber colour. The slight aroma I took to be ’old beer’ but it isallied to the flavour, which is whisky, salty and burned malt. The palate has an alcohol burn which is the overriding sense, and a little sweetness. I do like this, but alcohol does bite the tongue.
