3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Small offwhite head, fair retention and some spotty lace. Fairly hazy orange copper color. Nose is large with citrus and pine, juicey fruity, tropical with some caramel malts also. Body is med/full, juicey, oily on the palate, resiny, sticky. Lotsa citrus flavors, grapefruit being the main player, more pine, ink, melony notes as well. Malts are lightly sweet and buried. Semi sweet finish that needs a bit more bittering. Big DIPA! Chinook overdose?? Bottle procured @statelineliquors.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 20/20
Bottle, 9.5%. Distinct caramelly and teaish hop aroma, very nice. Cloudy, muddy dark amber/dark orange colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour is nicely powerful without being too much, The same as the aroma, caramelly and teaish, flowery hop notes, sweetish. Good bitterness, distinct, but not really rough. Very clean.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
definitely surprised on this one, very nicely done. very smooth and easy to drink, absurd hops, nice profile that is fruity, spicey, not too soapy or bittter, well rounded for sure. goes down like a nice pale ale.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bevuta ieri sera in bottiglia.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from Olive tree market. A hefty price tag of 8 bucks but hell, I’ll try anything. Pours a hazy deep golden orange with a frothy off white head, some nice lacing. Tons of pine, citrus and some herbal / musty qualities. Quite sticky on the finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 ounce bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar ($8.99). Pours a murky orange-red-amber with one finger of beige-ish head. Aroma of fruit (bright grapefruit mostly but also tangerine, peach, and hints of tropical fruit), pine, and grassy/earthy hops. Flavor is also strongly hoppy (juicy fruit) and more bitter than sweet with a noticeable bit of alcohol. A strong malt character emerges late in the flavor. Dry finish with some lingering bitterness. This is an interesting concept, and I can appreciate what these two brewers have been doing to create something out of the ordinary in Europe. This ends up being a decent DIPA, but living in San Diego there are many equal and better DIPA’s that are much less expensive than this, so I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed. (92, 394)

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2011 Bottle thanks to Sarah. Poured a hazy brown with an amber hue and a yellowish brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of hops with a strong pine note accompanied by citrus, particularly pineapple, resin and sweet grain. Flavor was similar with a strong pine start with a bit of resin and a growing pineapple note and a lot of sweet grain coming out in the finish. Nice and smooth on the tongue.
