3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From notes. Tasted from bottle at Lush Roscoe. Pours a muddy orange-brown with a thick tan head that slowly recedes to heavy lace. The nose is caramel malt with a floral and resinous green hops aroma. The flavor is a good blend of caramel malt and resinous hops with a light dried fruit flavor as well. The body is full with average carbonation and a long hoppy and raisin finish.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Awesomely fragrant, floral nose. Pours a slightly muddy orange witha strong off white head. Flavour is intensely hoppy with loads of grapefruit, lime and cig smoke with a face-puckering astringency that adds rather than detracts. Fine fine fine hop monster from the infallible Brew Dog.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2011 The pour is nice with a hazy, ambery-crimson color and an off-white, full, thick, creamy head which settles to a thick, rocky, froth and leaves some drippy lace. The nose is pleasant with plenty of dry rustic notes, almost twiggy, some dried apricots, ruby red grapefruit, light mango, and maybe just a bit of pine needle. The flavor is similar with dry, rustic notes still taking the forefront, still quite fruity with ruby red grapefruit, mango, and apricot, faint pine, a nearly high bitterness, and maybe just hints at some toasted caramel. The palate is dry, juicy, medium to full, lively, sticky, oily, and slightly warming. The finish still mostly bitter and long with the rustic notes continuing to dry out the palate, more pine entering, and the juicy grapefruit disappearing but very slowly. This was a weird one with so much of the dry rustic notes but still balanced by juicy citrus and fruity notes and just enough malts. One of those beers that is not typically what I tend to go for, but something about it was very enjoyable. I was a bit hesitant after trying the hardcore IPA from BrewDog because I did not like it, but I see there is a new version of the brew which I might have to try. Anything Mikkeller touches is usually magic in a bottle, this was no different. After trying I Beat You, this beer takes the best of both beers... The fresh, green hops and resinous/grapefruit hops from I Beat You and the grapefruit and rustic notes from Hardcore IPA. Perfectly juicy, fresh but not too green, drying with rustic, and wonderfully bitter.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Pours a clear deep orange with a stringy-lacing white head. Has a huge fresh resiny piny nose with some sweet toasty caramel maltiness. Starts with good fullness and sweet light caramel maltiness with a juicy grapefruity hop flavor and crisp bitter balance before a slightly warming bittersweet finish. An enjoyable and extremely well-hopped double IPA.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle, batch 174, a gift from gunnar, thanks! ABV is 9.5%. Cloudy orangey brown colour, big head, slightly off-white. Intense aroma of fruity and resinous American hops (tropical fruits, citrus, pine). The flavour is intensely hoppy (pine, resin, grapefruit) on a malty sweet (caramellized orange marmalade) background. Bitter finish of course, but not too extreme.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Snifter. Light brown. The scent is overwhelming with fruity hoppiness. Sweet malts with superb saaz and cascade hoppiness. Nicely bitter. Aftertaste is like running in the forest after the rain has stopped and left the moist pines oozing with scents of their resin. Grabbing, grabbing aroma.
