In collaboration with the awesome Oskar Blues from Colorado, we’ve created this big, twisted 10.5% American style barley wine. With big boozy aromas that’ll swirl round your nostrils and a sweet viscosity that’ll cover your tongue from top to tip, this is a beer for people who enjoy nonsense and walking on tightropes. Even when the Circus packs up and leaves, you’re left with a lingering warmth and bitterness playing in your month. - See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/product/shipwrecker-circus#sthash.e9vrs12U.dpuf

Bottle 33cl, A clear amber beer with medium head. Nose is intense on candied orange, hops resin and pine. Aroma is very sweet, caramel and chocolate touch, hops resin, pine, overripped fruits, anise touch, licorice, almond. Good body and good complexity and quite easy to drink for this alcohol level.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Norway. Dark amber color, ok foam. Aromas of hops, malt, caramel, dried fruits, toffee & light citrus. Full body & high complexity. Some sweetness, but balances ok- ends up a little bit on the sweet side. Enjoyable

330ml Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£5):
Strong & boozy with a dark fruits (dates/figs/plums) before the dark malts & chocolate come through. Warming alcohol aroma that thankfully isn’t overpowering. Traces of hops & pineapple appear in a very complex but excellent smelling beer.
Copper with red tinges, a lot lighter than expected. There’s a thin, 0.25cm head of fine bubbles that fades to leave quite a patchy lacing after 20 seconds.
Boozy with minor alcohol notes & sweetness with dark fruits standing out. Complex tasting with some plum, dates, raisins & dark cherries, some figs & citrus too; here is faint hops & pine in there as well. Spicy & warming with pineapple, some malts, caramel & chocolate.
Strong, boozy & sweet but it still managed to go down easier than than expected, helped by the great balance, not to mentione the warming & boozy feel that complimented the medium carbonation & dry finish.

A really nice collaborative effort between Brewdog & Oskar Blues, it’s definitely up there with the best I’ve tried from Brewdog & it went down a real treat & one that I’m slightly disappointed won’t ever be available again. Wonderfully complex & definitely boozy but the huge array of flavours managed to mask the vast majority of the alcohol & make the beer seem a lot easier to drink than a 10.5% beer should have done; a pleasure to drink.

Flaske fra vinmonopolet. Klar, mørk brun farget, lavt karbonert med en liten hvit skumtopp. Smaker malt, eik, brunt sukker, karamell, rosiner, honning med innslag av løv. Denne var utrolig god. Smaker noe alkohol

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a dark reddish amber/copper color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has nice caramel malts, dark fruits with maybe a touch of alcohol. The flavor has caramel, dark fruits, and resiny, herbal hops, hoppy American barley wine, some alcohol, I would probably like this better with age.

Murky chestnut hue with a lasting beige head. Lovely toffee and sweet leafy aroma. I’m getting some hoppy earthy resins with honey and toffee and raisin and light bourbon. Big flavor with leafy hop resins, delicious bitter raisins and dates, orange rind, and sticky sweet earthy toast and caramel malts. Outstanding.

Can. Deep amber with red tint and a frothy head. Nose is chewy malts, sweet, sticky, toffee, rich dark fruits, and alcohol. Heavy on the palate, you can scrape this off your tongue, malts, toffee, light caramel, sweet, no hint of alcohol at all.

On tap at Dutch’s. Dark brown, red, near-black color. Thin khaki head, leaves decent bits of lace. Bigger body, smooth lighter carbonation, kind of creamy with a good full feel, lightly slick in the finish. Dark fruit, some chocolate, and good c-hop.. .Grapefruit citrusy hop, mildly piney. Nice interesting unique flavor profile for a barley wine. Certainly American-style. Good tropical flavors. Moderate sweet, moderate to bigger bitter taste. Alcohol works just fine, just a mild warmth at the end, kind of pleasant. Tasty, interesting stuff.
