Keg and bottled, special
In collaboration with the awesome Oskar Blues from Colorado, we’ve created this big, twisted 10.5% American style barley wine. With big boozy aromas that’ll swirl round your nostrils and a sweet viscosity that’ll cover your tongue from top to tip, this is a beer for people who enjoy nonsense and walking on tightropes. Even when the Circus packs up and leaves, you’re left with a lingering warmth and bitterness playing in your month. - See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/product/shipwrecker-circus#sthash.e9vrs12U.dpuf

Bottle. Pours mahogny in color with an off-white head. Dark fruits, bit of spicyness and roasted malts in aroma. Brown sugary sweetness, ripe fruits and malts in taste.

330mL bottle, pours a dark orange amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out rich caramel malts, dark fruits, and toffee. Flavour is quite robust, but balanced, with notes of toffee, caramel malts, and light booziness. Strong but restrained as well - not too abrasive. Solid barley wine.

Good barley wine, very strong taste of malt, with some dry fruits. Bit too sweet for my liking though.

Bottle from CBB. Very dark reddish brown, small tan head that quickly disappears. Very malty sweet aroma but with a nice hoppy side to it, a nice twist for a barley wine. Flavour is very smooth, caramel and dark fruits. Strong kick of alcohol.

Poured clear reddish brown with a dense tan head. Aroma of very sweet berries, caramel malt. Full body, flavour is overly sweet, much as the aroma. Needs a lot of ageing to make it palatable.

Keg @ Beer Temple (taster size). Clear red brown color. Off white head with reasonable lacing. Aroma’s: caramel, resinous hops, pine needles, plus some dark fruit retronasal. Flavor is light to moderate sweet with a solid bitterness and light fruity sourness. Alcohol feels pretty strong, warming. Medium to full bodied. Firm bitter finish, resinous. I quite liked this.

330ml bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spirits. Dark amber colour with no head. Aroma is sweet, vegetables and malts. Tastes very sweet, but with depth. Nice.

Pours a dark amber with almost no head. Aroma: heavily malty characters with a pleasant hops aroma. Taste: malts, some hoppy elements, liquor and an interesting heavy taste which reminds me of a syrup (maybe maple syrup?). Palate: heavy, licquourish with a pleasant bitterness. A very good, new wave barley wine.
