COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
bottle & keg, special
A hoppy menage a trois of epic proportions, Magic Stone Dog is a rustic farmhouse pale ale mash up. Brewed in collaboration with Greg Koch (Stone) and Rich and Stu (Magic Rock) just before our AGM, Magic Stone Dog has the best qualities of a saison and a pale ale, combined.
The nose has a citrus punch straight from the US West Coast, boasting zest, pineapple and orange notes, offset against a big spicy clove warmth courtesy of the saison yeast.
This continues into the flavour, where the best of both worlds combine - orange, spice, a touch of lemony tartness - and sit alongside a thirst- quenching dryness and refreshing effervescence. This bright, zesty, subtly tart, Belgian-inspired brew is the perfect beer to enjoy during the Indian summer we all know is definitely coming. Definitely. For sure.
Malts: Extra Pale Amber Wheat Rye Oats
Hops: Amarillo Simcoe
Twist: Mash up style with both saison and pale ale character

Pours a light golden with a little bit of fine white head. Nose is fresh citrus and pineapple hoppy notes, some banana esters and a little clove. Lovely, balanced nose. Flavor is more of the same. A good what of citrus, spice and hay notes from the rye and wheat respectively, a little hint of lemon, a little yeasty funk, and a very very dry and crisp finish. Fizzy on the palate with medium to light body. Pretty balanced and drinkable, while not being boring. Good work.

Bottle at Brew, Thonglor, Bangkok. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is yeast, citrus mineral, light hop. The flavour is light bitter with a light zesty citrus mineral hop bitter palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. The saison side shines through. A great session beer.

Hazy golden color with a big efluffy white head. Aroma is yeasty and floral, with champagne/cider hints, green apple and slightly hops. Medium-bodied. high carbonation (too much IMO). Tastes as the typical Saison, starting with a floral, yeasty, citrusy notes, with green apple peel and spices, finishing with a tartness punch, due to lemon peel I guess, and a generous but not predominant bitter finish.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Blonde fruit and wildflower perfume, spicy - peppercorn, clove, green pepper? and some herbal hops. In short, it is like any other saison - but it is not a bad thing, is it? Very nice.
