3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Corvallis Brew Supply, Corvallis. Pours a jet black, small amount of tan head. Aroma subtle, coffee, yeast, resin, chocolate. Yeah, it’s a four year old IPA, so not much expected there. Body thin and slack, but finish is brilliant, a really nice interplay between yeast, malt and hops, very little bitterness and even at that, along the lines of anise or some similar herb, with a full rich mouthfeel. Imagine this would’ve been a bit more impressive fresh, but still worth a flyer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Jet black pour. beautiful looking beer, average taste. Some roasted malt, not much besides that. Bottle from 2010 though, perhaps some oxidation, but the beer itself would be much higher if hops were more pronounced.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rated on 4-22-2010 (Bottle - Batch 409) This beer pours a medium fizzy tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque dark brown body, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, citrus hops, and a hint of pine. The taste is bitter, roasted malt, chocolate, and moderately hoppy. The palate is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer has a pleasant hop balance, worth trying, and a beer I would drink again.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours an impressive jet black. Smells like bread, citrus, a little sour. Tastes a little watery and sour, hints of toast. My girlfriend says it reminds her of soy sauce, which I agree with just a little bit. Like a cross between a weak IPA and a stout but not very impressive either way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A gem? Bottled 12-25-10. Pours "black as sin," with dark brown edges, and the slightest large bubbled ring of khaki head. Nose involves cocoa and light toast. Dark chocolate and roasted notes grow with warmth. Pretty sweet flavor, lightly tart, and somewhat bitter. Heavier body, soft carb, oily, with a lengthy dark chocolate bitter finish. Any "Belgian" elements are virtually non-existent at this point, and it certainly isn’t "hoppy as hell" anymore. Still, it held up pretty nicely as some sort of a strong stout.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rated from backlog. Very dark brown with brown head. Well balanced beer, with a good combination of bitter hops and both sweet chocolate and bitter coffee malts. Fine slightly oily body, nice soft carbo.

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from bottle. Little to no head, dark. Not as strong as I was expecting. Less IPA and more dark ale.
