COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

5.0% amber colour with a nice head, sweet floral hop aroma, slightly sweet hoppy taste, did not like it.

Smells better than it tastes. Hops to the fore on the nose, but rather subdued and subtle on the palate. Nice cloudy amber colour and decideably quaffable.

A: Pours cloudy, dark ruby red with a light brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aromas of dark cherries, raisins, malt, and hints of chocolate and caramel. Heavy malt flavor with dried fruit, toasted grain and a hint of bittersweet chocolate. Slick mouthfeel, medium carbonation, light body and a lingering malt sweetness.

Clear reddish deep amber, medium sized beige stable head. Aroma.. fruity hoppy contrasted with decent maltiness, bit caramel, citrus. Grassy. Short sweet start with very pleasant bitterness continuation and dry bitter finish. Very nice. Maybe something is lacking, but as first session beer it was great. He he and its really ment for 5 am watching sunset

Suutuntuma on keskitäyteläinen, humalan katkeruus jää kitalakeen. Kokonaisuutena aivan upean hajuinen, mutta maun yksipuolisuus oli pieni pettymys. Aromaattinen tapaus kuitenkin.

Bottle. Piney orange hops and caramel malt aroma. Deep amber with a small ivory head, decent lacing. Resinous piney hops, orange peel, astringent, biscuity caramel malt flavor. Medium body and carbonation.

PsychoGunnar (200) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 10, 2013
Smells fruity and fresh, with hints of wild raspberries. The flavour is interesting and complex, with a large contrast between the taste and the aftertaste - first there is a berry-like and mildy sickening sweetness, and then a hoppy and smoky aftertaste kicks in. Beautiful smoke-coloured, with a little bit too little foam. 0.33 is a bit too much, which is a bad sign.

Pours a cloudy amber. Really nice aroma -- almost like a barleywine, with loads of caramel-drenched fruit. The flavor, unfortunately, goes for about a third of a second, then stops quite abruptly -- it just shuts down, and moves to a watery finish. Really weird that it quits so quickly.
