COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

Nice red ale. Good bitter aftertaste. Could have had more depth. Keeps a nice head throughout. Clear with a bit of haze. Fruity aroma. Hoppy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[on tap at BrewDog pub in Edinburgh] Hoppy, cat piss aroma. Clear amber appearance. Excellent nutty malt flavour balanced by a blast of US and Australian/New Zealand hops. Light to medium body, medium carbonation, nutty finish.

A mid to dark, flame reddish brown coloured beer with a thick, cream coloured head. A strong hop aroma, piney, citrusy, grassy with just a hint of liquorice. A medium bodied mouthfeel. The taste starts off along the same vein as the aroma, piney, grassy grapefruit and orange citrusy hop flavour are abound, genty making way for a more rounded flavour, of biscuity malt and that liquorice element from the aroma. Thats not to say the hops disappear, they are well represented in the finish.

Tap@BrewDog (Manchester 7.Jul.2012) Dark mahogany body, spare frothy beige head. Some malt and hops, then you sense the citrus, plum and prunes. So well-balanced taste and very drinkable, still the very characteristic BrewDog flavour...It’s hard to describe...

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2013 This amber has a beige head and the beer is a bit cloudy. Love the smell of this beer, tropical fruit with some light malty notes. The hops certainly come through on the taste, big but well balanced...if you can say that about a beer. Great beer!

On draught at Oslo in Galway. This brew pours a dark amber-copper color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and caramel. Light body with flavors of herbal hops and caramel malt. Touches of tropical fruit too. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
