COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Marris Otter, Crystal Malt Hops: Simcoe, Chinook, Nelson Sauvin, Centennial Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

Btl from Bottleworks. Clear, red-orange pour with a short beige head with good retention and leaving moderate lace. Nose has an early whiff of Simcoe and fruit, but then is mostly pine and roasty malts. Medium-light body with moderate-plus carbonation. Mouth is crisp and full, but not plush. Toast, pine and walnuts; light citrus and caramel. Finish is medium and slightly softer - presumably getting you ready for another swallow. Very sessionable and one I’ll come back to again if I can find it. I’m impressed that it’s so good this far from Scotland.

Pours a ruby/brown colour with a doughy looking head. The smell has hints of banana bread and reminds me a lot of the Talisker distillery. The initial taste has a hint of cut grass leading into a citrusy hoppy after tatse.

33cl bottle poured into a sniffer glass. Bought in Singapore, and I think manufactured in 2013 (equity for punks logo) but drunk in 2014. Hoppy and caramel aroma - also floral notes and citrus. Small head which disappears rather quickly. Beautiful reddish amber colour. Slight sweet taste with citrus and caramel tones. Medium level of bitterness in the aftertaste. Very nice - good session beer.
