COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

Yeah, drinkable. Grapefruit and hops. Long aftertaste. Bit too carbonated and not that smooth, but alright ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours dark red. Malty aroma with some light pine and grapefruit. Malty taste with some light hop bitterness. Yep it’s decent as usual from brewdog.

Has a malty, caramel, cereal and biscuit taste.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Pint from tap at Brewdog, Birmingham. Clear amber red with off white head. Malty, circus aroma. Pleasant, hoppy, bitter sweet taste more citrus possibly orange and grapefruit on the palate, but not much complexity. A tasty red ale, but I was hoping for more zing and depth.

This is probably my favorite hoppy beer. A perfect blend of hops and citrus in this one.

330ml bottle with a BB of 25/3/16 Didn’t get any oxidized character in the nose though. Poured red-brown with a good head. The initial bitterness quickly disappears - not much body and a bit thin on the palate. Also maybe a touch sour but this is prob due to the age of the bottle.

Served in a tulip from a 330ml bottle. Pours clear ruby-red with a thin off-white head. Aroma is citrus hops, caramel and some malts. Taste is very similar to the nose - citrus hop and caramel, subtle bitter short-lived aftertaste. Slightly watery body with medium carbonation. Quite a simple hoppy brew, nice and refreshing!
