3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 highlandlad (1375) - Blue Mountains, - JUL 16, 2012One of the best amber ales I’ve come across, mainly because it doesn’t taste or smell much like a dull old amber at all. Doubt it would pass muster with the style gurus in competition, but who cares? A bronze beer with a thin head. Atypical aroma of toffee apples, passionfruit, cola and lemon candies. Light body. Odd blend of what seem traditional amber ale malts and hops more suited to a pale ale. Tart and refreshing with some gooseberry in the finish. A pleasant surprise. (330ml bottle from Leura Cellars. BB 16/1/12)
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 LicoriceKing (28) - DENMARK - MAY 17, 2013
Deep amber color. Aroma: Caramel, pine, grass, bread, cereal, floral and citrus. Taste: Very piney, grapefruit, citrus, caramel, coffee and bread. Light mouthfeel. This is so great, definitely my favourite among BrewDogs sessionable core range, a lot of interesting notes you wouldn’t expect from the style. Nice malt flavours and hop flavours.

A mi gustó una de las mejores florales qué he probado. Sabe cuadrar bien el tipo de lúpulo sin saturar con el sabor a flores. Muy equilibrada, para repetir, de las pocas de su estilo qué repetiría.

This beer looks so inviting, I want to chew it. There’s a lovely mix of floral and malt notes on the nose, with sawdust and grapefruit present. In the mouth it’s perhaps a little short, but it’s otherwise a winner. Lots of sweet malt and plenty of punchy hops. Very nice.
