5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

330ml into glass. Lemon/grapefruit nose. Hazy red ale with thin scummy head. Light easy drinking, short hop then malt finish. Every mouthful is preceded by a nose full of citric fruit. Excellent.

(bottle - 330 ml) Copper pour with a fluffy tan head. Light malts and a nice hop aroma. Flavor is a good strong hop presence with a smooth and lightly sweet malt backbone. Smooth and easy to drink.

Pours clear amber with a nice, thick, stable off-white head. Beautiful looks. Aroma is floral hoppy with some sugars, caramel and yellow fruits. Something woody as well. Can’t get my fingers behind it. Yet, quite a good nose. Taste is mildly bitter with a nice sweet and hoppy kick. Clear note of the fruits, the sugars, some hidden roastiness as well. Finish is predominantly bitter and dry. Yet there is some sweetnees that overarches pretty well, giving it a nice, refreshing end. Medium bodied and on the thinner side of the palate, Could have been a bit thicker and fuller, yet for the quencher that this brew tends to be, it works out really well. Good brew. Well-balanced, easy to drink quencher for the warmer days.

BB 30/06/15. Poured a hazy coppery red colour with a one-finger light beige foamy head that retained OK and laced poorly. Carbonation high with fine to medium bubbles. Aroma really nice fruits and hops - fresh citrus and hint of pine. Taste of slight sweetness and slight bitterness; unfortunately the nice full aroma does not transfer to the taste. Light body with a thin mouthfeel; not watery. Smooth finish. OK.

Combines the red ale taste with the dry hoppy and citrus flavour of IPA. Easy to drink, but not an average beer.
