COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

Amber to coper coloured ale. Sweet / bitter with lots of caramel, malt and some hops in the taste. You describe it as a malty amber ale, because of the caramel and bread tast. It’s medium bodied, with a dry ending (use of pale ale malt?). The hops aren’t dominating but are present. Nice bitterness but in the end a little too astringent in my opinion. I bought it in Belgium maybe if you can drink it fresh, the hops will cause more balance and the bitterness will be less astringent.

[6399-20140628] Tap. Mild celery soup aroma. Clear, red amber body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Malty bitter grains flavour has quite a bitter celery burlap note. Medium-full body. Good. (7/4/7/4/15) 3.7

Bottle from Waitrose. Poured a clear, bright amber, with a dense off white head. Aroma of spice, berries and malt. Caramel in the flavour, with some light woody notes and grassy hop. Finish was toffee, peal and straw.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Hazy dark amber brown, beige head cover, dots of lace. Taste is caramel malt with a slightly bitter edge that grows significantly into the palate, adding hops and carbonation on the swallow, then drifting through a lingering bittersweet finish. A huge brew for 5% abv, well-balanced, solid. Recommended. NOTE: the label now describes this as a "Hoppy Red Ale".

Clear amber color with big head. Aroma is fruity-hoppy, really, a hint of berries, and pines as well as caramel malt. Taste is typical red ale, earthy and caramely, but the hops are also very present and with a pleasant bitter finish. Medium carbonation, rather light body. A good hoppy red ale!

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear ruby color with medium creamy tan-like head and good lacing. Aroma of berries, orange peel, spices, pine, caramel malt and burnt sugar. Taste starts moderate sweet and rich malt, follows by fruity acidity with some citric notes and moderate bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Pleasant and enjoyable session beer...
