5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.

One of BrewDog’s lower alcohol offerings. Pours dark brown with a thick bubbley head. Smell is citrus pine hops. Spruce. Strong and American in the nose. Taste is similar sharp pine, grassy hops but with a thick, aley, malty backing. Meaty, bitter with a tasty finish. Good Carbonation. very drinkable.

0,33L bottle, BB 16.08.2014. Pours slightly hazy red copper with off white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is fruity, acidic, malt, slight diacetyl.Taste is sour, fruits, berries, grapefruit bitterness, but also some diacetyl. Overall: ok, but nothing special.

Drank with Rik 17/4/2014. Brown amber color. Smells really nice, hoppy. Taste also begins this way but finishes watery, it lacks depth.

Bottle from BrewDog online store. Dark ruby-copper, small white head, crystal malts, caramel, complex floral, fruity, citrusy hops, well balanced, medium body, dry but sweet finish. Really nice.

Bruine kleur (amber?), troebel, amper schuim , ruikt naar wijn, metalig en hoppig. Smaak bevalt me niet. Niet zoet, niet fris, weinig bitter. Niet mijn ding.

Red amber color, not 100% clear. Poor white head, no co2 at the sight. The aroma is citrus, hoppy and astringent. Body is watery, light. Bitter taste, surprisingly refreshing and clean aftertaste.

Quite possibly my favourite Brewdog Beer a lovely ruby red colour, not great head retention, a medium finish with a lovely fruity aftertaste I get plums. All in all a beer really worth seeking out, slightly better on draught than in the bottle.

On tap @ Brewdog Camden (Greater London). Almost clear amber with a medium beige head and heavy lacing. Aroma is hoppy and floral with caramel and fruity notes. Taste is floral with caramel, fruity notes, mint and no bitterness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Petty good Amber Ale. Well balanced, tasty and drinkable.
