5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible. Cast away any aspersions and let the crook of BrewDog be your guide in a whirlwind of conformity and mediocrity. Once this ruby liquid forms a foamy halo around your glass, you’ll never want to look back.
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Munich Malt, Crystal and Dark Crystal Malts
Hops:Cascade, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Ahtanum, Centennial
Twist: Loads of late hops and bucket-loads of dry hops

[33cl bottle, Home, 10/01/10] Wonderful floral bouquet aroma accompanied by hints of biscuity malts. Medium sweet with moderate bitterness. Smooth, crisp mouthfeel. Gentle carbonation. Superbly drinkable. A very good beer. If there was a touch more going on with the taste it would be an excellent beer.

Pours a cloudy copper color without much head, minimal carbination. Aroma of malt and fruit, with hints strawberry. Taste of malt, fruit, hops and strawberry. Surprisingly dry feel with a clean finish.

Poured from a bottle. Murky copper color, large amounts of sediment, small white head. Tangy fruit and strawberry aroma. Medium body with a strong malt flavor with nice hops accents and medium finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottles from BrewDog website and Sainsbury’s. Hazy amber-red beer coloured with a sweet rich strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry and orange marmalade flavour followed by a malty, toffee and bitter-sweet floral and pine hop finish. Excellent!

This beer was one of the biggest suprise. After I heard about 5 hops, 5 malts I did expect huge amount of bitter taste. What did I got? Flowers and wonderful citrus aroma and taste. One of best beer I had oppurtunity to taste. You should try it at least once just for the test.

Bière ambrée avec une impressionnante base maltée (principale qualité). Au bilan, c’est juste une rousse. Une bonne, mais rien de renversant. (En 140 caractères / #TwitterStyle)

A: citrus, strong, herbs, very pleasant, wood A: as red as can be, clear, minimal head, tan foam T: very bitter, medium sweetness, lightly sour P: medium body, thin feel, average carbonation, bitter, long finish O: Uma cerveja intensa na aparência e nos sabores. Agradável para quem curte um bom amargor. Com um creme mais denso ficaria mais bonita.
