Think of everything you know about lagers. Then forget it all instantly. 77 will redifine the experience forever. A Lager that actually tastes of something? You have to be kidding, right? 77 lager is made with 100% malt and whole leaf hops. It contains no preservatives, additives, cheap substitutes or any other junk. Maybe we are crazy. So what? Taste 77 Lager and we are pretty sure you will agree that the fine line between genius and insanity has just become a little more blurred.

It poured a clear golden liquid with a medium sized white foam that left a little bit of lacing. The smell was the best part of the beer, even though it wasn’t that good. A noticable smell of malt, bread and caramell. It had a smooth and dry mouthfeel. Tasted of malt, bread and a hint of caramell. But where´s the hops? Where’s the rebellion? In the end it’s just another average lager and doesn’t seperate itself from the rest.

Bottle. Ugly looking beer with no head. Unbalanced in both aroma and flavor. Bad chemical touch.

Wow, this is a pretty lager. Normally I can’t be bothered to comment on how beers look nowadays but this one is an unusually lovely looking lager. Thick, off white head, leaving behind lacing as it recedes, atop a dark gold body with streams of bubbles ascending. Has to be a 5 for a lager. Well, might look better unfiltered but 5 it gets. Unfortunately there’s mainly grain on the aroma along with a touch of sweetness. The first sip takes care of any worries the aroma gives. Very full bodied, hint of sourness and a some snappy if not so strong bitterness on the finish.

Bottled@SBWF2009. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some other sweetish malts along with some mild hoppyness. Flavour is quite much the same in a nice balance.

From the box that Brewdog sent me free! Clear golden colour with a nice big white head. Smell of citrus hops, with grapefruit, lemon, lime, all fresh and appetising notes. Good bitter hops in the taste followed by a suprisingly sweet malt body, finishing dry again. Fresh grassy hops. very nice. Refreshing like lagers should be, but tasty. Prickly carbonation. Yes, Brewdog have done it again.

Bottle from Systembolaget. The arrogance is easily misjudged with aggressiveness. A pointless beer without any worth mentioning features than pointless.

Bottled @SBWF 2009.
Golden color, mostly vanishing head. Fruity, malty, a bit woody nose. Sweet malty, mostly hops, a bit Czech like bitterness. Quick finish. It’s just a lager - for being a BrewDog!
