3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, USA - OCT 23, 2011
bottle.... light brown, some bright copper, not much of a head... the aroma is light, a little raisin, spice, finishes with light vanilla... taste is average, easy to drink, mostly sweet, the vanilla is gone, easy to drink, but a boring quad
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 kermis (962) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAY 23, 2012
Bottle from Mikkeller bar. Pours cloudy amber with an off white head and sediment. Aroma of ripe fruit, raisins and spice. Flavour of malt, raisins, ripe fruit and caramel. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (285) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 3, 2012
Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. Visually, the beer has a clear amber colour, but is slightly hazy, with a small off-white head. The aroma is characterized by leather, wood, nuts, marzipan, and a perfumy touch towards alcohol. The taste is not very different from the aroma where I recognize wood (birch?), leather, more nuts, and alcohol at the end. Feels light and fine in the mouth with a medium bitterness. A good strong beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BenH (733) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 24, 2012
Bottle. Dark amber with a white head. Fairly weak aroma, fruity yeast esters, bubblegum and banana, some alcohol also. Similar taste, again, quite weak, alcohol comes through. A very oily texture, sweet with a bitter finish. Not bad
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheCametron (791) - SCOTLAND - APR 24, 2012
Bottle at Bens. Bottle 721 - Jan 2010. Pours a reddy brown with a cream coloured head and a lot of suspended yeast sediment. Fruity Belgian yeast nose. Not a strong aroma. Tastes of Belgian yeast - berries, candy and banana. The malt is nice but the yeast offers an unwelcome bitterness. Any vanilla is marginal. Very nice but not a contender compared to the style.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 lusikka (2533) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 21, 2012
375 ml bottle. Bottled on 29.01.2010. Bottle #2573 of 3200.
Pours a dark amber colour without a head. Aroma of strong sweet berries and vanilla. Flavour of sweet berries, toffee, vanilla, raisins and some nutty tones. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a warming, fruity and dry finish. Has clearly lost it’s edge already.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 olio (1530) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 21, 2012

Pours hazy, almost clear red color with no head. Aroma of ripe fruits like raisins and plum, dark berries, caramel malts and sugar candy. Flavor of mild dark berries, vanilla, yeast, dark malts, ripe fruits, caramel and some earth. A bit disappointing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (1675) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 21, 2012
37,5 cl bottle @ lusikka. Bottle #2573, bottled 29.01.2010 (japanese marking: BBE 15.06.2020)
Aroma is sweetish with dark fruits and vanilla. Flavour has vanilla, dark fruits, plums, raisins, spices, some toffee and berries. No signs of alcohol at first, it does occur as this warms up – and it becomes stinging right away. Rather straightforward considering the style, maybe this could use more spices or malt.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tiong (1301) - Espoo, FINLAND - APR 21, 2012
375ml bottle
Bottled on 29.01.2010, bottle #2573/3200 - Pours dark brown with a tiny white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, malts, yeast, vanilla and spices. Taste is quite malty and smooth with notes of ripe fruits and a lot of vanilla. Finish is quite mild, slick and slightly malty with some alcohol coming through. A bit unbalanced, quite heavy on the vanilla notes. Surprisingly light bodied.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 aleph (192) - - APR 20, 2012
Bottle @ Mikkeller. Dark red-brown with a slight off-white head. Yeast, malts, caramel, candy, plums, figs, vanilla. Low carbonation.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ClubGonzo (1966) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 13, 2012
Bottle, shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew’s Epic Abstrakt/Blåbær tasting, feat. special guests Foffern and StoreMy. :-) January 2010 is bottling date. The first one in the Abstrakt series pours a light nougat hazy body with plenty of tiny sediments and a tiny off-white head. Caramel, candy sugars, almonds and hints of vanilla and nougat. Taste is burnt sugar, caramel, alcohol, candy sugars and hints of nuts and some dryness reminding me of birch wood. Slightly thin, dry and alcoholic palate with a boozy finish and slightly too low carbonation. Not totally convinced. Could it be the age? Maybe not, but still. Hm.
