3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerViking (1421) - Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, GERMANY - SEP 8, 2010
Tap at the Rake, an initially disconcerting bright red with a very small head, notes of aniseed and raspberries on the nose, body is woody, fruity, slightly sour and sharply bitter - not bitter like hops but bitter like those inedible little bird-cherries. Very interesting but not wholly successful.

Due to the aging of the beer the aroma is faint but of wood; sour fruits and oak sherry. The colour is red and shines through well,. the taste is good, I couldn’t stop thinking that this beer should be aged for five years and would LOVE to compare it with Thomas O’Hardy’s . Brewdog definitely have an aged winner on their hands with this one and the fruit of cherries and the raspberries goes so well. This is the most interesting Abstrakt yet and one which I think should be stored away. The oak is really good and balances against the fruits with a subtle edge which gets high praise. Refreshing for the abv, low carbonation.

Clear reddish amber with a medium beige head. Aroma had raspberries, soda and not much more. Sweet flavor with plenty of raspberries, malt and hops that gave it a dry finish.

On tap at the Rake, London on 7th September 2010. Amber with little or no head. Notes of marshmallow, sour strawberry and raspberry fruit, deep earthy maltiness. A mildly bitter finish, and a deep, wholemouth texture. Rather better than I had expected.

A Mes rate. Tap at the Rake. Rich amber with a thin white head. Tart fruit and not much else to be honest. Faint sourness and plenty of depth but it just doesn’t seem to go anywhere. Pleasant malty base giving some slighty balancing sweetness but the tremendously tart fruit just takes over. More fruit in the finish. Erm, yeah it’s fruity. One thing is for certain this is effortlessly drinkable for an 11% beer. I quite like it, I just can’t get too excited about it.

Amber color. Aroma is strawberries, raspberries and some yeast. Taste is mostly strawberries but also a hint of cherries. It´s ok, but a bit disapointing. Was a bit tipsy though when tasting, so not sure I´m being completely fair.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Ungstrup (26200) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 28, 2010
Draft. A hazy deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is extremely powerful and has has notes of caramel, malt, alcohol, spices, wood, and peaches. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of fruit and caramel as well as medium notes of yeast, alcohol, and raspberries - the later note grows in intensity towards the finish. It also has light notes of wood and whiskey. The finish is dry and alcoholic.

tap at mikkeller bar
clear red/red-brown, lasting small white head.
fruity and faint booz aroma
flavor is fruty, faint sweet, booze-bitter. I don’t like strong alc fruit beer, they get alc bitter, this one also. Like the idea, but the result is too boozy-bitter i think.
