D: Doften är enormt stark med mycket chili och lakrits.
S: Smaken är otroligt fyllig, lite vinös, kaffe, choklad med en mycket trevlig hetta från kryddorna. Aningen söt, men trots allt mycket lättdrucken.

[375ml bottle, BrewDog tasting, Cloisters Bar] Tasted at the BrewDog Christmas party held at Cloisters in Edinburgh. Pours very black indeed, no real head to speak of, just a mild lacing at the edges of the glass. Fantastic aromas – roasted dark malts, chocolate, bitter coffee beans and a punch from the alcohol and chilli. The taste is like 100% dark chocolate – bitter roast, a hint of sweetness – before the alcohol burn from the high abv and a noticeable (but not overpowering) edge from the chilli. Really well balanced flavours. Apparently Martin at BrewDog regards this as their best beer – I may well be in agreement

Bottle at home from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured black as a ravens wing with a fading tan head. Aroma had loads happening with notes of sweet malts, chocolate aplenty, chili, coffee, vanilla, leather and barrel all mingling in harmony. Luxuriously smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Big complex and rich flavour that made me step back in pure wonder and admiration. Sweet but in no way cloying, the notable elements of the nose were present and shining. The chocolate and barrel notes stood out, but each passing sip revealed something different and tasty. The warming booze hit was in no way overpowering considering the ABV.I felt rather selfish downing the whole bottle by myself as this really deserves to be shared with good company. If the chance arose to try this again in any situation I’d leap at it. A stunner.

Holy toledo, this is an amazing beer. Strikingly similar to Hunahpu’s. For a fantastic description of this stout, scroll down to Darkguardian’s review. By the way, a big thanks to Chris for sharing not one but two bottles of this bad boy at the District.....

Bottle from The Grove, Huddersfield. No. 1936/3300 Bottled 1/11/10 291012
Pitch black, no head, slight ruby edges in glass
Aroma - Complex aroma of rich roasted malts, chocolate, touch of soy, chillis noticeable, slight vegatative note probably from the chilli, some chilli heat on the nose, great aroma
Taste - rich chocolate malts, dark plain chocolate, mellow dark roast malts, underneath some dark fruity malts, hint of sweet red wine, so well balanced, not too much chilli but the heat gets noticeable after a while, excellent taste
Palate - no carb, medium body, lighter in body than expected. Finish - nice rich chcolately malty residue, smooth warming alcohol. Rich thicker chocolate malts strangely come out of the thinner body and coat the mouth in the finish.
Overall - Well the hype was right with this one. Maybe it would be better it had bit more body and it was not as flat. All the AB beers should be around this quality though. Excellent Imperial Stout.

Fantastiskt god!

375 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black with small, brownish/tan head. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, chili and some booze. Flavour is sweet with similar notes (also soy sauce) and some bitternes. Very tasty! Medium to full mouthfeel with very little carbonation and a long finish with chili. Very good overall.

On tap at the White Horse, Parsons Green, London last autumn. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Pleasing roasty, malty aroma. Tastes sweet, heavy, malty, coffee, chocolate, orange, incredibly complex, smooth, boozy, warming and rich. Lovely stuff indeed.
