Bottle courtesy of Colin, thanks! Almost black, small tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans, licorice. Taste is anise, espresso. Nice.

Thick cream head, quite stable over very dark red-brown to cola-coloured beer. Nice vinous, complex nose, with red wine, alcohol, wood, bit of chocolated and lots of fruity USA hops, slightly dry. Bitter to very bitter, with chocolate, dark but bitter fruit, tad of liquorice. Again lots of dry, powerful hops with lots of resin/pine and a bit of fruitiness (rosewater, lytchee). Despite the bitterness overload, the beer invites to drink more all the time. Very rich, but surprisingly little viscosity, just the hopoils leaving a filmy texture on the mucoses. Well-bodied. Excellent. Night & day with the AB:08.

Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. Has an unclear deep brown color with a medium light beige head. Nice aroma of dried fruits, dark berries, dark chocolate, roasted, leather and pine. In the flavour I still sence a touch of pine trees, but also sweet berries, coffee and tobacco. Feels smooth and soft in the mouth, with a medium bitterness. A fantastic beer, and has a nice balance.

Bottle, Mi-orge Mi-houblon. Little carbonation on uncorking. Almost black, dark brown, thin film head. Nose massive fresh wet hoppy smell, plenty of maltiness, strong lemon, liquorice, pine. Mouth is thick, hoppy but a dulled bitterness, warm malt, biscuit, lemon, a sting in the tongue from the alcohol. Lasts warm and dry. Lovely.

Bottle from brewdog.com. Fairly easy drinking, not as hugely hopped as I thought it would be. Pleasant.

Bottle. Black, dark red in light. Hops, citrus, roasted malts, sweet malts, licorice, orange chocolate. Finishes dry over a decent body.

Black thin head, Black color, smell of citrus, hops, salty liquorice, faint chogolate. Flavour of Coffee, Liqourice, chocolate, citrusy hops. Really luxurious thick mouthfeel with perfect carbonation. My first Black IPA and it’s a good one. Slightly lower score because of a high, not justifyable price.

Dark blacky with a ruby tint and a thick tan lasting head. Smells of citrus, orange peel greapefruit hops and roasted dark malt and caramel. Full creamy smooth body. Taste of an IPA mixed with a porter. Starts citrus and moves to roastyness. Sweet berry, chocolate with orange peel and a dry finish.

(Bottled) Clear cola colored, smallish and fading, but reasonagly firm and lacy, beige head. Exotic fruit and sweet maltiness in the nose, with a touch of roastiness. Flavor is initially bitter in an unpleasant way, and there’s some burnedness. Sweet maltiness, however, quickly takes over, and there is also salty licorice and exotic fruit. Medium to full body, low CO2, gives you sticky lips. There’s clearly some effort in the dry-hopping, but the slight harshness combined with excess sweetness ruin the balance. Not bad, but way overpriced.

Bottle #6592 Almost black in the glass, with some red shining through. Tan head. Quite fruity aroma with some pine/resin sourness to it. Complex and nice. Very appealing. Taste is full and equally complex with sweet caramel, malt and chocolate that twists towards a well balanced bitterness with some sournotes that lasts for quite a while. Want more...
