Palme (2993) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 15, 2011
Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011 from tap: Pours a deep deep brow body with a near non existing sidesticking tanned head. Aroma is not extreme, but has some nice fruitiness with a little licorice perhaps and some roasted malts. Full-bodied, average+ carbonated and has a oily and slick mouthfeeling. Strong flavors, good amount of alcohol sting, quite hop-bitter at first then the licorice kicks in. No doubt this is an extreme brew, but It’s missing that little extra to make it an superb BIPA - something I expected from the "Abstrakt" series. Would not mind tasting this again in a year or two.

Draught@CPH BF 2011. Hazy murky red/brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is sour wood, some tartness and also mild roasted notes. Flavour is liquorice, some fruity notes as well as some mild caramel. Grassy and bitter aftertaste along with some roast. Not at all my thing.

abemorsten (2491) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - JUN 9, 2011
Sampler at CBF 2011-05-27. Clear mahogany with a creamy, light brown head. Fresh dung, fresh acidic aromatic hops, rich citrus syrup. Sweet, alcoholic flavors with leathery, wooden, earthy notes. Full body. Oily texture. Long, dry finish.

Tap @ Ølfestival, 2011.
Pours deep chestnut colour with a small, creamy off-white head. Aroma is light hoppy, some plant sap, apricot and pine. A liqourice malty note in the back. Lowish carbonation, rather light mouthfeel for the ABV, Good dryness, though. Flavour is vinious, a bit sharp, piney, chocolate, liqourice. Quite warming, but also quite nice.

ClubGonzo (3509) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 6, 2011
Tap sample @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Deep crimson-hued near-black brown body, no head. Aroma has hints of coffee, hops and grass. A bit faint. Taste is better; grass, spices, coffee, hints of leather. Nice blend, but my expectations are high for these beers so unfortunately this one comes off as "not awesome". A rather nice Black IPA, regardless.

stravale (1883) - Near Carrick-on-Shannon, IRELAND - JUN 4, 2011
Appearance - dark brown / thin tan head dissipates quickly. Aroma - pine resin hops / alcohol / raisin / wood quite complex. Taste - sweet syrupy / warming / fruity port-like notes / some cask wood / bit of dark honey / hop bitterness which comes out much more in the finish. The finish is intially warm and sweet, then a lingering rather harsh, rough, dry hop bitterness with a hint of metal. Seems a bit muddled (aggressive hopping fighting with the syrupy sweetness). Quite boozy for the ABV. Not as good as AB:05, rather disappointing.
