   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20
Marsiblursi (3001) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 24, 2011
(Bottle) Pours brown, almost black in the glass with a nougat colored/pale brown head. The aroma holds notes of ripe mango up front alongside clear tones of flowers/roses, grapefruit, resinous wood, dried banana, strawberries vanilla and perfume. Malt brings tones of subtle asphalt, chocolate, dark caramel, earth and mild coffee beans. The extreme mix of (almost salty) hops and medium roasted malt reminds me of salt liquorice. I like the aroma; maybe just a bit too oxidized hop wise (wet dog). Hits of medicine, herbs and mint. A bit like the Mikkeller 1000 IBU. The flavor is light sweet, near heavily bitter and light acidic. Grapefruit, pine, perfume, light fruit, mild roast, earth, wood and burned cookies. The mouthfeel is round and smooth yet distinctively tart from the hops. The finish is grapefruity, robust malt and perfumey. Medium to full bodied.

pilsnerrogge (2489) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUN 19, 2011
Bottle #948 of 8973:
Colour is dark brown with a thick head. Very hoppy, shampoo-like aroma. Flavour is extremely hoppy with some faint notes of bluberries and chocolate.

LoFi (1592) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 19, 2011
Bottle 1014/8973. Almost black with a dark red tinge, and a large creamy light brown head leaving some lacing. Aroma: hop juice, peaches, grapefruit, tropical fruits, licorice, lightly roasted. Taste: high bitterness, grapefruit, peaches, licorice, salt, rubber, a bit harsh. Medium-bodied, feels thin for its ABV, carbonation is above medium. Unbalanced, but pretty nice. Wouldn’t have guessed this was above 11%.

Blairgus (2590) - California, USA - JUN 17, 2011
17 June 2011, tap at brewdog bar. great nose! big astringent grassy hops, alcohol doesn’t smell like 11.5%. imperial stout notes. really sweet stout and hops. thin body and moderately fizzy. great! sweet sugary stout at front with big citrus pulp hops hitting in the finish, along with some bitter chocolate. this is a really nice black ipa. slight bit of meatiness somewhere as well.

Palme (3311) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 15, 2011
Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011 from tap: Pours a deep deep brow body with a near non existing sidesticking tanned head. Aroma is not extreme, but has some nice fruitiness with a little licorice perhaps and some roasted malts. Full-bodied, average+ carbonated and has a oily and slick mouthfeeling. Strong flavors, good amount of alcohol sting, quite hop-bitter at first then the licorice kicks in. No doubt this is an extreme brew, but It’s missing that little extra to make it an superb BIPA - something I expected from the "Abstrakt" series. Would not mind tasting this again in a year or two.

Draught@CPH BF 2011. Hazy murky red/brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is sour wood, some tartness and also mild roasted notes. Flavour is liquorice, some fruity notes as well as some mild caramel. Grassy and bitter aftertaste along with some roast. Not at all my thing.

thewolf (11158) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2011
Tap @ Ølfestival, 2011.
Pours deep chestnut colour with a small, creamy off-white head. Aroma is light hoppy, some plant sap, apricot and pine. A liqourice malty note in the back. Lowish carbonation, rather light mouthfeel for the ABV, Good dryness, though. Flavour is vinious, a bit sharp, piney, chocolate, liqourice. Quite warming, but also quite nice.
