stobbe74 (3789) - DENMARK - JUL 4, 2011
Sampled at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is weak with roasted notes and hops with citrus. The flavor follows the nose with additional alcohol. The palate is alcoholwarmth. Overall an average beer.

375 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Black liquid with medium to big light tan head. Aroma is hoppy and roasted with notes of chocolate, coffe, tropical fruit, pine, hop cones, grapefruit. Balanced. Very appropriate for the style. Taste is medium bitter with light sweetness and nice roasted, chocolatey notes. Balanced and smooth. Full bodied with long finish and low carbonation. Very nice and balanced! Almost more like a well hopped Imperial Stout than a Black IPA.

Dark borwn black with an off white head. Aroma is intensely hoppy and malty with hints of nuts. The mouth feel is extremely resiny and syrupy. The hop character is akin to hardcore ipa but amplified to stand up to the very malty roasty character, Finishs dry with a long lasting bitterness.

omhper (19976) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUN 27, 2011
Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2011. Very dark brown, small head. Grapefruity nose. Sweet and full bodied with oily mouthfeel. Syrupy oily malt covered in loads of grapefruity hops. A huge, bold beer, but not the most refined or elegant beer around.

Marsiblursi (3028) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 24, 2011
(Bottle) Pours brown, almost black in the glass with a nougat colored/pale brown head. The aroma holds notes of ripe mango up front alongside clear tones of flowers/roses, grapefruit, resinous wood, dried banana, strawberries vanilla and perfume. Malt brings tones of subtle asphalt, chocolate, dark caramel, earth and mild coffee beans. The extreme mix of (almost salty) hops and medium roasted malt reminds me of salt liquorice. I like the aroma; maybe just a bit too oxidized hop wise (wet dog). Hits of medicine, herbs and mint. A bit like the Mikkeller 1000 IBU. The flavor is light sweet, near heavily bitter and light acidic. Grapefruit, pine, perfume, light fruit, mild roast, earth, wood and burned cookies. The mouthfeel is round and smooth yet distinctively tart from the hops. The finish is grapefruity, robust malt and perfumey. Medium to full bodied.

pilsnerrogge (2538) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUN 19, 2011
Bottle #948 of 8973:
Colour is dark brown with a thick head. Very hoppy, shampoo-like aroma. Flavour is extremely hoppy with some faint notes of bluberries and chocolate.

LoFi (1595) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 19, 2011
Bottle 1014/8973. Almost black with a dark red tinge, and a large creamy light brown head leaving some lacing. Aroma: hop juice, peaches, grapefruit, tropical fruits, licorice, lightly roasted. Taste: high bitterness, grapefruit, peaches, licorice, salt, rubber, a bit harsh. Medium-bodied, feels thin for its ABV, carbonation is above medium. Unbalanced, but pretty nice. Wouldn’t have guessed this was above 11%.

17 June 2011, tap at brewdog bar. great nose! big astringent grassy hops, alcohol doesn’t smell like 11.5%. imperial stout notes. really sweet stout and hops. thin body and moderately fizzy. great! sweet sugary stout at front with big citrus pulp hops hitting in the finish, along with some bitter chocolate. this is a really nice black ipa. slight bit of meatiness somewhere as well.
