3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a medium tawny-ish sort of colour, with very little head.
Roasted, spicy aroma, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, licorice, coffee.
Semi-sweet, full bodied, mid to high bitterness, low CO2.
Roasted, malty taste, chocolate, coffee beans, coconut, wood (?), vanilla, faint smoke.
Quite enjoyable, but very odd, in an odd sort of way... (2014-09-20)

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled in 2011. Poured into a snifter at home. Dark ruby, clear, totally still with no head at all. Not even a bubble. Aroma is sweet old ale, chocolate syrup - smells like chocolate has been added. Body is medium, totally smooth, no carbonation. Taste is sweet honey yet with a strong bitterness, malty barley wine, some more of that chocolate but itís in the background. Interesting enough, just not my type of thing. It has nice characteristics, but itís way too sweet for me.

Bottle at home. Rich, sickly toffee, sweet and malty, tastes more like a barley wine now.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at BrewDog, Edinburgh on 17 May. They had a few in stock, but the fridge was emptied of them by the end of my session. Poured amber and was completely flat, with pretty much no head. Aroma of butterscotch, booze and ripe berries. Sharp hop flavour with notes of toffee and spice. Finish was bitter grass, caramel and lavender. Different...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, caramel, oak wood, red fruit, honey, hints of tar and smoked chilli. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel, hints of smoke, honey, red berries, orange marmalade, chocolate, toffee and a slightly bitter-sweet finish with a hint of alcohol shining through. Full body, with viscous mouthfeel. Fairly sweet. Quite interesting and a bit hard to define style-wise. Nice one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a cloudy deep amber brown with no head whatsoever. Aroma has strong sweet grains and a syrupy note with toffee and a good amount of booze. Flavor has strong toffee and sweet grains with a syrupyness and a bit of booze. An odd beer for sure.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared at Gunnar tasting, originally bought in Utobeer. Colour is clear reddish, with a small white head. Nose is complex. Marmalade, Marmite (yeast extract), caramel, orange citrous, earthy, dirty, alcoholic. Taste is earthy, slight damp cellar, sticky sweet orange, yeast extract saltiness, slight oxidisation but itís not hurting it, caramel. Sweet and strong but a little too much going on.
