brokensail (10935) - Orange County, California, USA - APR 27, 2012
Clear golden color with almost no carbonation or head. A really spicy nose to this. A chili pepper aroma, perhaps? Or maybe it’s just the booze and smoked malt. Anyway, a touch of caramel and sugar in there, too. The flavor is really weird and kind of green, almost like bell pepper. Booze and sweet sugar are there, maybe some licorice notes. Not sure what the point of this was.

pilsnerrogge (2500) - Finspång, SWEDEN - APR 27, 2012
Bottle #5380:
Clear amber colour. Firm, mid-sized head. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma with notes of marzipan and alcohol. Sticky sweet and oily mouth feel. Flavour is sweet, grainy and a little roasted. Long alcohol bitter finsh.

Bottle. Clear dark gold color. Caramel malts, fruit, coffee, sweetness, and alcohol. Oily, weird beer, not sure if I like it much.

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 15/20
dogbomb (944) - ENGLAND - APR 23, 2012
Bottle 638/7902. Clear oaky brown with an mid tan thin head full of teeny bubbles. Aroma is full of vanilla, some oak chips, an overripe tangerine and some sweet licorice (not the normal deep licorice you get). Malts like crazy. Very oily in the mouth. A bit of a shock in the first mouthful - and almost caused a gag reflex. Incredibly thick in the mouth, with a rough alcohol burn at the back of the throat if you’re not careful. There’s some nice fruits which can be pulled from it - fig, plum, still some overripe oranges in there. Cheap chocolate. Dark chocolate. Those orangey chocolates that nobody likes in the box and leaves until last. You feel this beer going right down and hitting your stomach. Clears your sinuses somewhat. There’s some cheap red wine in here, some supermarket own-brand whisky. Someone’s dumped a cigarette in and a half-eaten pork scratching. It repulses a little, but is far too intriguing to leave alone... MENTAL!

kermis (5065) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 23, 2012
Bottle at home tasting. Clear golden pour with a white head. Aroma Of strong malt, coffee, oats. Initially super sweet syrupy flavour quickly changes to malt and oats with a bitter and sweet finish. Low carbonation and medium to full body. This is a really strange beer..

kerenmk (2377) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 23, 2012
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tomer G. Bottle #1081. Clear Dark Golden. Sweet aroma with roast, bonfire, potato. Sweet, bonfire taste alcoholic. Faint smokey aftertaste, light body, oily texture.

RoyceH (1196) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - APR 20, 2012
Bottle, mi-orge, mi-hublon. 674/7902. Clear copper, filmy head, bubbly as hell. Nose is brewed coffee discards, smells like the inside of a moka pot after a brew. Malty, pringles, powdered onion. Mouth is thick, coffee dregs, warm, sweet, malty, syrup and resin. Wok oil taste and mouthfeel, alcohol as mouth progresses, leaves a coffee taste and burn. Eclectic, yes. Great, maybe not. Weird, yes. Something I could learn to love, perhaps. Just a bit too much going on without the supporting complexity for me.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 14/20
MOLA_DK (285) - DENMARK - APR 20, 2012
Bottle at home. Pours crystal, clear amber, with a big head. Aroma is fruity malts with a hint of smoke. Thick malty taste with some smoke, some bitternes in the end. This is a nice beer, but a far cry from a stout (it is marketed as a deconstructed blonde imperial stout)

DSG (5812) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 19, 2012
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks Tomer G. Bottle #1081. Clear deep golden. Aroma of alcohol, malt and smoked bonfire potatoes. Sweet malty flavor with some fruitiness, some smoke and caramel. Fatty, slightly syrupy body. A bit interesting, but not great.
