UPDATED: OCT 18, 2012 Bottle. Strangely spicy, some oaky notes, a bit of yeast esters. Light syrup, caramel. A strange peppercorn and onion- type of aroma, with a bit of chili peppers.

Clear amber of color with a small white head. An aroma of malt, sweets, dried fruits, figs, hops and citrus. A flavor of malt, hops, bisquit, bread, spice, liquricepowder and a bitter finish.

Bottle from Brewdog. Pours clear dark golden with a small white head. Aroma is sweet toffee, coffee and some soy sauce. Taste is boozed up malts and coffee, too sharp on the edges for me. Lingering bitter liquorice almost save this one.

Uhlen (251) - Trondheim, NORWAY - SEP 22, 2012
Liquid copper, almost no head. Licorice and alcohol in the nose. Alot happening in the taste, milk chocolate seems to be most present. Alcohol seems really well hidden, considering this is almost 12%. Great mouthfeel and a great beer overall.

rarbring (1550) - Linköping, SWEDEN - SEP 12, 2012
Aroma: Smelling of sweet candy and milk chocolate.
Appearance: A clear amber beer, an off-white house, little lacing, good curtains.
Taste: Sweet. sweet honey, candy and soft cheese, some cherry seeds.
Palate: Little carbonation, soft and warm oily texture, somewhat dry.
Overall: An odd beer, but rather nice, a few years aging might be interesting.
Note: Bottle at Linköping Beer Expo tasting.. Reviewed 2012-03-17.

Bottle [375ml] shared with garthicus & HogTownHarry -- c/o garthicus. Bottle 5758 of 7902, bottled on 06.12.11. Pours a slightly hazy deep orange-amber with an average size quick-diminishing fluffy white head. Kind of oily-looking. Aroma of smoke, coffee, roasted malt, alcohol and honey. Boozy coffee flavour, sweet and syrupy. Big boozy finish. Syrupy mouthfeel. Full bodied. Interesting beer, it’s too boozy but it’s very good.

Pours a clear and copper beer with a weak white head. The aroma is malt, cold coffee, green pepper and alcohol. The flavor is messy but follows the nose with additional chocolate. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall the aroma is very one dimensional and the flavor is a mess of impressions.

A-- Poured a clear, honey amber color. Layer of bright white film that quickly recedes to a ringed collar. Not much head retention and just a bit of lacing. Some obvious alcohol legs but I like color. Very vibrant. S-- Smoke, peat, ash, candied orange and coffee with a touch of chocolate. Very fresh and green coffee beans. A very nice nose as a sort of combination of a strong ale and imperial stout or porter. T-- Chocolate, fresh coffee bean and orange. Alcohol is very obvious in the mouth. Slightly syrupy and medicinal. M-- Smoke, char, ash, and coffee in the finish, but quite dry. Low carbonation and slightly syrupy heavy feel. A little bit oily in the front and mid. More of a strong ale at this point. O-- Interesting concept. Kind of a combination of two styles. The strong ale part is a bit unrefined but can be a really good in time. Still a bit too boozy and syrupy. Might want to try this again later on and see how this progressed.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet enjoyed at home
Deep copper clear, beige head. Smells of malts, grain, some hops and hay. Heavy sweet, quite malty, alot of malty flavors, quite unusual, also quite distinct yeast flavor. Light to moderate bitter finish, some hay and grass there. Not anything near my expectation as an Abstrakt,. To easy, want some more complexity. Maybe i expect too much from Brewdog?
