finol (1344) - Stockholm, - FEB 11, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark golden with a yellowish head. More barley wine like than stoutish. Taste of malt, licorice and hops, rather bitter. I’m slightly bitter myself since my expectations were rather high on this.

Rettep (976) - SWEDEN - MAY 20, 2012
Bottle #6489/7902. Dark golden to amber with a beige head. Aroma: malty, some chocolate, dried dark fruit. Taste: not roasted, but otherwise some stouty flavours, toffee, milk chocolate, earthy, cocoa, dark fruits, maybe raisins and honey. Full-bodied. A pretty interesting experiment, to create a blonde imperial stout. Flavour-wise it gets pretty close in some areas.

Bottle courtesy of Colin, thanks! Clear syrupy golden color. Aroma of caramel, taste is syrupy sweet with floral notes. Decent stuff.

JorisPPattyn (6725) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 11, 2012
Small darker cream-coloured head over metallic amber beer, cold hazed, that seems hardly carbonated. Quite coffeeish nose, roasted coffee, caramel, parsley, with chocolate. Bitter, faint-coffeeish, as a cake or a tart made with coffee; green bitter vegetables, and again caramel. Some carbonation there, all the same; slightly burning MF, quite slick, filmy feel and medium carbonated, alcoholwarming. Not my taste, I’m afraid.

badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 10, 2012
Dark copper color with a medium head. Strong caramel and toasted malt aroma. Seems like it could be peppery, both black and green. The taste is a wollop of malt, toast and burnt caramel. Light coffee, dry fruits, and some dark sugar. Rides the balance of dry/toast/roast and sweet sugar. Not nearly as full and gut filling as a 12% typically is.

Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. Has a bright and clear amber colour with a small off-white head. The aroma appears to be very spicy and is reminiscent of herbal spices. In addition, I sence leather, wood and pastries of all things. Towards the end there’s some perfume and alcohol. I find spices also in the flavour. The taste is sweet with rubber, wood, and some roast, biscuits, beech wood and peat. The beer is smooth and soft in the mouth with a nice balanced medium bitterness. This is truly a unique and interesting beer.

37.5 cl. corcked & caged bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // bottle nr. 779 / 7902 // bottle on 26.12.2011 // ingredients include extra pale malt, liquorice, heavily toasted oak, chips, cacao, coffee & smoked malts, oh dear // apparently it is supposed to be a blond imperial stout (?) // clear textbook amber with an off-white head // smells very sweet, very heavy on honey, cinnamon, lots of caramel, fermenting honey, sweet thistles (or something akin to that), some sweet, weird honey concoction, alcohol // taste is very, very weird, sweet, sweet, honey heavy, fermenting honey, anis, nectar, sweet caramel, oatmeal cereal, honey-coated grains, going into a bitter, thistles, herbal aftertaste, very bitter, thistle (taste really reminds me of how thistles smell & feels like nettled plants going smoothly down), lasting bitterness in the finish,… // no imperial stout, that is for sure, mix between a barleywine & American strong ale perhaps // sticky, honey syrup body, oily // rises to the head, faster than you would expect // this is very weird but I enjoyed it, unusual that is for sure the case
