3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a beautiful dark brown, almost black, with about a finger of thick tan head. Barrels are distinct in the aroma, there’s also brown sugar, hay, basement aromas, alcohol. Taste is a bombardment of sweet, subtle at first before a powerful alcohol finish that’s almost like a punch in the face. There’ a slight astringent bitterness to balance it. Very warming, with a long lingering finish. ABV is obvious! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
375mL bottle, enjoyed about six months old, pours a deep dark amber / mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out the sweet barrels upfront, with notes of berries, candied toffee, caramel and sort of a port wine character. Flavour is very silky smooth, full of treacle toffee, sweet barrels, caramel and a subtle port wine character. Viscous and silky smooth on the palate, with very soft carbonation which is perfectly fitting for the type of beer this is. Sweet, but never cloying and drinks rather easily for being 11.5%. Excellent stuff - definitely one of the better beers in the Abstrakt series.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Brewdog Shoreditch. It pours an almost black colour with some ruby edges and a creamy tan head. Nose is roasted malts, sweet red berries, some ash and maybe tobacco. Mouth is pretty assertive, a blend of roasted, ashy flavors and sweet red fruits/red wine character. Good but not outstanding.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled from 0.375 L bottle @Grünerløkka mat- og mikroølfestival. Pours a dark reddish brown body. Low sand-colored head. Sweet alcohol-scented malt aroma, featuring burnt caramel, molasses and a distinct roastiness. Taste is substantially sweet. Alcohol- and malt-sweetness. Dark caramel flavor, with notes of fortified wine and a tart berry-like fruit tone. Wood notes. Full body. Succulent in the mouth. Warming alcohol in the finish. [25.08.12]

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark, black in glass, tanned head. Smells of caramel, butterscotch and roasted malts. Heavy sweet, quite alot of butter and popcorn, some roasted malts. Moderate bitter finish. The abstract series seems for me to be only a gimmick now; a way to charge double for mediocre beer. The barrell aging in this one is way too pronounced - some less time on the oak would certaintly make this a better beer

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled, from Systembolaget. Almost clear mahogany colour, small head. Cardboardy caramel aroma. Sweet with full body and sticky mouthfeel. Papery with some rubber and loads of caramel. A potent mess.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Pitch black color. Creamy tan head. Roast, caramel, chocolate, liquorice in aroma. Sweet, roast, milky flavor. It’s not working on me.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
375ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn) "100 Euros of Shit Beer"
Alcoholic aroma, but a nice roast stops it from being a boozy disaster. Tons of sugars in the roast, and a fuck-ton of alcohol. And sugar. Did I mention the sugar and the alcohol? Palate a bit sickly and sugary. Sweet boozy nonsense. Thank god it’s not got the nail varnish remover or glue that the dumbass yanks manage to put into such beers. So not a good beer, but with enough of an attachment to beer flavours that it’s not a total disaster. A bit rubbery - weirdly rubber.
