COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is an 11.5% Imperial Brown Ale which we have aged in amazing Spanish sweet red barrels from Malaga. Stewart Bowman, our Head Brewer, devised an Imperial Brown Ale designed to perfectly complement the wine flavours and extract maximum depth and character from the giant barrels. We also felt the Imperial Brown Ale was ideally suited to be barrel aged and as well as the infusion of the Malaga wine character will also benefit added complexity and maturity from the time in oak.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Pours dark, black in glass, tanned head. Smells of caramel, butterscotch and roasted malts. Heavy sweet, quite alot of butter and popcorn, some roasted malts. Moderate bitter finish. The abstract series seems for me to be only a gimmick now; a way to charge double for mediocre beer. The barrell aging in this one is way too pronounced - some less time on the oak would certaintly make this a better beer

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Almost clear mahogany colour, small head. Cardboardy caramel aroma. Sweet with full body and sticky mouthfeel. Papery with some rubber and loads of caramel. A potent mess.

330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Pitch black color. Creamy tan head. Roast, caramel, chocolate, liquorice in aroma. Sweet, roast, milky flavor. Itís not working on me.

375ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn) "100 Euros of Shit Beer"
Alcoholic aroma, but a nice roast stops it from being a boozy disaster. Tons of sugars in the roast, and a fuck-ton of alcohol. And sugar. Did I mention the sugar and the alcohol? Palate a bit sickly and sugary. Sweet boozy nonsense. Thank god itís not got the nail varnish remover or glue that the dumbass yanks manage to put into such beers. So not a good beer, but with enough of an attachment to beer flavours that itís not a total disaster. A bit rubbery - weirdly rubber.

Keg @ BrewDog Camden. The pourís deep brown with a tiny off-white head. The aromaís of rich chocolate gateau, cocoa, dark bitter roasted chocolate, earthy malts. Hints of vanilla and red berry. The taste is much the same, plenty of ash and wood, bitter chcocolate. Sweet brown sugar reduction. I donít get much of the wine barrel in this beer. Full, thick. Pretty good stuff!

1/3 pint from tap @BrewDog Manchester Hazy dark brown body, with tiny layer on top. Dried fruit, prune, cherry and some bitterness. Velvety. Great and interessting experience, but itís a tad too sweet, so 1/3 pint was more than enough. (7.Jul.2012).

Dark dark brown liquid, almost black. Thick brown medium head, which leaves no lacing. Sweet sweet aroma of raisins and caramel. Full bodied, and a really sweet taste, of nuts, raisins, and some alcohol. Would def. buy again.

Bottled. Pours hazy brown with a little tan head. Nose of toasted malt vanilla, chocolate, alcohol notes and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and slightly bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. Quite nice..★★★★
