4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 yngwie (10760) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 26, 2012
Bottle, 375 ml corked, at grünerløkka festival. A brown beer, lightly hazy, and topped by a beige head. Sweetish, vinous nose with caramel and maltiness. Although sweet on the palate, there’s some sourness blending in. Caramel, wine, alcohol, brown sugar and a faint bitterness in the flavour. Lasting finish. A bit warming, but really nice. 120825

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2012 Bottle at Grünerløkka mat- og mikrobryggfestiva. Pours clear brown with a tan head. Quite fruity aroma with malt, wood, berries? and spices. Sweet and malty with a quite dry, woody finish with hints of spices. Sweet, but pleasant.

Thanks James! Pours a deep, near-black brown with some ruby edges and a creamy tan head. Nose is roasted malts, sweet red berries, some ash and maybe tobacco. Mouth is pretty assertive, a blend of roasted, ashy flavors and sweet red fruits. Wine barrel is maybe a bit too prominent, a major pet peeve of mine. Sweet but not horribly so. Not really my thing, but decent, I guess.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Very dark brown colour, reasonable head. Sour treacle malt aroma. Strog sweet chewy toffeemalt flavour. Very smooth. I am not a fan of the Abstrakts but this is one of the better ones.

Molta regalèsia en boca. Un punt alcohòlica tant en nas com en boca. Cremosa. Jo me la beuria amb una bona barbacoa. Molt vinosa.

I finished off a great drinking session at the BrewDog Bar in Manchester with one-third pint of this one poured from tap. Deep, dark-reddish shade body covered by a filmy, beige layer. Lovely aroma of stewed prunes, smoke and chocolate malt. Dark and dried fruity taste alongside notes of dark berries and vanilla offset by a malt-bitter end, long-lived and added by alcohol warmth. Velvety mouthfeel. Delicious full bodied sipper (07.07.2012).

Still a bit alcohol heat but I think that will be tamed after some time. takes the barrel very well. nice base beer, caramelized sugar, slight raisin/sherry notes, touch of vanilla. Sweet finish, some alcohol harshness at the backend. One of the best Abstrakts for me.
