Bottle shared. Pours very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of big spices, molasses, herbal, mainly thyme, beef stock, pepper and some spice. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter, with pepper heat building in the finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle @ deans, tfs kermis! Aroma is herbal molasses, slight smoke and roast. Flavour is very spicy, almost minty with quite some roast, some smoke and a nice malty sweetness. Weird spicy thyme finish.

Bottle 7374/9819. Birthday gift from L. Cloudy, coffee brown body with a thick head that forms a clingy ring. Roast and dark stone fruit in the nose. Some cacao. Flavors of rich chocolate, prune, and dark cherry. Cacao is more present here. Nice ashen character in the finish. Faint peppery notes likely from the ginger. Full body is somewhat oily and slick. Light carbonation. Very malt and most of the bitterness seems to come from the dark malts and spices/ginger. Overall a fun dessert sipper that would pair well with dark chocolate.

Thoor84 (67) - ICELAND - DEC 23, 2012
heavy ginger aroma and taste, some roasted notes, malty, sweet, some strange bitter and slightly tart berries and a lot of heat from probably both the ginger and the chili. Really interesting and I’m happy to have tried it, but it is just so strange, my thought on this changes from sip to sip.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Almost black, small head.Lightly smoky nose with cinnamon and ginger. Sweet and sticky with massively full body and clean mouthfeel. Some honey and licorice. heated peppery finish. As always from BrewDog a very experimental beer sold at a high price. While this is decent I’m getting less and less excited by the day to pay high prices for experimental one-off batches instead of enjoying readily tuned recipes.

22-DEC-2012, bottle @home, from Ølbutikken. Dark, dark brown with lasting brown head. Ginger, roast, and herbs. Like Fernet Branca. Taste is ginger and roast. Too much ginger. I do not like that. Sweet. Barley wine...? No way. Full body, soft carbonation. Late chili kick. Sweet roast finish, but the ginger never leaves. The ginger is way overdone. My Brewdog #50. I wanted this to be a nice celebration but Brewdog. This is not my kind of tea.

330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Pitch black color. Tiny brown head. Sweet, dusty gingery aroma. Notes of alcohol in aroma as well. Ginger, sticky sweet flavor. Very raw and bit unfinished.

375 ml bottle (Brink Shop, Tallinn) "100 Euros of Shit Beer" tasting
Nice gingery aroma, like the taiwanese ginger sweets we used to have. Dry and dusty. Massively sweet, but the ginger gives it a nice bite that cuts through the stickiness. Getting some booze in it, which is a shame, as I do like the gingery nature. Tons of booze, and I feel this is a horrific over-rate, but I don’t know which score(s) I should reduce.
