AB:14 is the latest release in our Abstrakt series and is an oak aged Imperial Weizenbock. Expect a big, bold mouth-feel backed by some powerful banana, caramel, toffee, vanilla and spicy hits woven together with some classic weizen notes. All balanced by an eclectic yet bizarrely balanced variety of hops from America (Simcoe) the Czech (Saaz) and the UK (Bramling Cross).
The beer is at 10.2% ABV and has been aged on toasted French oak chips. As close to bannoffee pie as a beer can taste. Seriously.
This beer was the brainchild of our German Lead Brewer Franz. - See more at: http://www.brewdog.com/blog-article/impending-liquid-anarchy-some-upcoming-beers#sthash.Fvn7kB0i.dpuf

Bottle, 2013. Pours clear reddish Amber, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is boozy, vanilla, toffee, oak. Flavor is quite sweet, light bitter, oak, toffee, hints of clove, sherry. Medium body, lingering bitterness. No longer much of a weizenbock, but what it has become is interesting in its own right.

Bottle 330ml (2013). Served at room temperature. Pours a deep mahogany. Head is small, off white and quickly dissipates. Aroma is immensely complex and rich; fine cognac, fruitcake, burnt toffee, caramelized dates, overripe figs, dark cherries, maple syrup, vanilla, oak and Christmas spices. Flavour is extremely rich and smooth with virtually no bitterness at all; fine cognac, sticky stewed figs (strong), muscatels, Christmas pudding, golden syrup, burnt toffee sauce, rancio notes and oak. Full bodied with very soft carbonation, a syrupy texture and a long, warming finish. ABV is very well hidden. Not what I was expecting at all!!! A truly superb winter warmer in every sense!!!

Bottle [from trade with Scopey I think, thanks Paul!] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes and Judyvv. Red-brown color, quickly disappearing off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweet, sweetish alcohol, some dark sugar, lightly bitter in the finish. Not bad, but itís not my style.

An orange-brown body with no head. The nose is a bit of a masterpiece featuring raisins, brandy, plums, brown sugar and toffee malts. The taste is all that and more - a deep mixture of raisins, leather, toffee, banana, ripe dark berries, tobacco, candied fruit and a nice booze burn. It is very full bodied and rich with a slight sweet stickiness. They donít stand out, but there are hops under all those layers of taste holding the whole thing up. Although there is no head, there is a slight effervescent effect which helps mitigate the sweetness. A real treat.

Bottle@William K, Kurvi. Deep, reddish-amber color, no head. Sweet, oaky aroma reminiscent of barley wine. Sweet flavor with toffee, banana (as promised!), fig jam, vanilla, cigars and a hint of warming alcohol. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Very full body, very light carbonation. A dessert unto itself. Drink this by the fire when it's snowing outside!
