COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A salt caramel popcorn imperial ale. Bourbon and rum barrel aged, this 12.8% ale has complex and twisting flavours. Bitter caramel, wood, smoke, spice, treacle and vanilla are all present and intertwine against a smooth and lightly chewy mouthfeel. The salt caramel popcorn lends subtle hints of a smoky brininess.

375ml bottle from Brewdog shop. No visible head or lacing. Body is clear dark brown. Nose is caramel, popcorn, vanilla, wood. Flavour is creamy caramel, bourbon, rum, some alcohol burn. A little spice on the finish, some treacle. Very smooth mouthfeel, no carbonation, sticky and a bit chewy. So much going on here, a bit jarring at times but then it melds together. Quite a weird beer but a good one to savour.

Backlog rating. Keg at BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a rich amber color with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and rich in caramel and toffee notes, light bitter and bread, light banana and liquor. Taste has some more sweet toffee notes, vanilla, run, bread and cocoa. Medium to full bodied with ok carbonation. Overall, interesting but sweet

Bottled. Pours clear paleamber with a small off-white head. Aroma of bourbon and rum, wood and vanilla notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with a hint of bitterness. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice Ale indeed. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

37.5% bottle at home from Only Good Beer, Budapest. Body is dark brown, head is flat, no lacing. Nose is liqueurish, flavor is bourbon, whine, cherry, candy sweets, honey, wood. Heavy sweet, light bitter, medium sour. Finish is long lasting medium sweet-sour, roasty and smoky light bitter, medium to heavy alcohol warmth. Full body, oily texture, nearly flat carbonation. A bit heavy dessert beer, not too easy to drink, interesting, I’d call it barley wine.

375 ml bottle 1625 of 8250, shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Dark brown body, almost no head.
Aroma of smooth bourbon, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, some dark fruits, alcohol.
Taste follows this pretty much, dominant bourbon and smooth, dark, sweet malts, with some more liquorice.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes boozy, astringent, with bourbon, dark chocolate, some liquorice.

Very nice. Not that complex, straight bourbon notes and dark malts. Pretty boozy, but nice sipper. Not my favourite from the AB series, but another enjoyable one.

Bottle #6920. Dark color without foam. Aroma: barrel, red port wine, sweetish malty, toffee and fruit. Where’s the popcorn? Taste: sweet toffee, great porto, a little salty caramel, warming like this fruit liqueur. Great ale.

Bottle from the cellar. Pours deep brown, no head at all. Aroma of marron glace, brown sugar, treacle. Very little carb - just a sparkle. Big caramel flavour between candied fruits, fudge and condensed milk - a hint of salt and some slight butterscoth. Barrel is evident with some vanilla and a touch of sugar and spice, along with some heat. With some carb this would have been up in the 4s.
