COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A salt caramel popcorn imperial ale. Bourbon and rum barrel aged, this 12.8% ale has complex and twisting flavours. Bitter caramel, wood, smoke, spice, treacle and vanilla are all present and intertwine against a smooth and lightly chewy mouthfeel. The salt caramel popcorn lends subtle hints of a smoky brininess.

Draught at BrewDog Manchester. Murky reddish brown with zero head. Nose is cola, rum, treacle. Lots going on in the taste department with the dual barrels kicking in. Dark, burnt toffee definitely, but didnít call to mind popcorn for me. Hint of fruit elsewhere. Very sticky and chewy. Good complexity and a nice sipper overall.

Bottle 2073 of 8250, Brewdog online shop. pours clear reddish-brown, little to no head. Very light popcorn aromas, but itís there. Lots of caramel, wood, fruit cake, and a hint of smoke too. Lots going on. Taste lets it down a little, doesnít quite harmonise, and sweet rum notes come to the fore. Interesting, and worth trying.

Brewdog Shoreditch. Clear deep amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Rich barleywine toffee nose. Smooth palate with superfine carbonation. Rich sweet malt with nice toffee - caramel. Rounded off rum with lesser whisky. Trace of spicy wood. A definite savoury note. Berry fruits, well buried. Little malt cream. Joins up very well in to smooth dry finish. Leaves slightly numb gums! Tasty, rich and complex.

Bottle at Brewdog Bar, Stockholm. Pours very dark brown with a low tan head. Aroma is honey, muscovado sugar, caramel, ripe apple, spices, sea salt. Taste is salty sweet with caramel, honey, marinated fruit, spices. Mouthfeel is oily sweet and lightly carbonated. Aftertaste is salted roasted nuts and caramel. Insane, but quite good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Will put away a few and see what happens.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2014 From bottle I think at Camden Brewdog. Served in their trademark teku glass. Hazy dirty brown colour, small white head doesnít endure long. Aroma - lots of sherry, sour, seaweed, whisky. Body is medium to light, smooth. Taste - sweet toffee malts, rum comes through noticeably, quite oxidised, old ale, no alcohol comes through, finishes short and abrupt with no bitterness. I can see the popcorn analogy in the aroma a little bit because there is some salinity and sweetness, but popcorn doesnít really come out in the flavour. Comparable to Kuhnhenn 4D, Thomas Hardys, Fullers Vintage. Not bad.

Bottle. Nice dark brown color with very short lasting white head. Wonderful aroma of caramel some dried fruits. Taste is caramel with biscuits and some hints of salt and some alcohol. Aftertaste is also caramel with some alcohol. Liked this but the alcohol should have been hidden a little bit more. I think this would age very well.

Bottle. Dark amber-chestnut, clear. Dark nutty, slight oaky, soft cream-tarry, nose. Dark fruityness, plummy dry fruit cake, some dark spices. Thick body, but quite alright- isnít overly sticky or anything, even though thereís a bunch of sweet malty flavours. Soft, with bourbony vanilla, salty dark buttery pudding. A bit short in the finish. Nice drink. Thereís definitely a lot of flavours, pleasantly softly mixed together. Forgot about the popcorns, but re-reading the description; sure, thereís some of that in the aroma, and I could contribute some of the buttery pudding to those as well. Very nice as an experience, but not one of the best ABís.

Keg @ BrewDog. Dark reddish brown, not much head. Strong sweet syrupy alcohol aroma. Sweet cough mixture & cake flavour. Sweet alcohol aftertaste. What I have come to expect from an Abstrakt beer. Not my sort of thing.
