Pours almost black, big head off the start, dissipates fast. Leaves nice lacing. I get the roastiness but also some fruitiness. Flavor is all there, then some. Complex, yet easy to drink. 040312

Smells like moccha and chocolate, pours black and coffee like in consistence. Has a little bitter and a medium palate. This beer is a little underwhelming for me, hoped for a better beer here. Still pretty good,, just not excellent. Bottle at The Rhino.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2012 Bottle from Cellier des Arcades, Arras, France. Pours an opaque dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is pleasant, dark fruits, roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, blended well so that nothing overpowers anything else. From my notes I recorded that the flavour is subdued but elegant, slightly smokey and chocolate-y with a sour tinge to the finish but it’s not unpleasant. Burnt sugar also features well. Pretty light feeling for a stronger porter (though not strong enough to reach the arbitrary standard for a ’Strong/Imperial Porter’).
