3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Two finger thick, fluffy, light brown head on a murky amber body. Excellent lacing.
Hoppy, herbal and malty aroma with tobacco and dried fruits present. Sweet, toasted, bitter all through a lasting finish. Some acidity. Dry. Medium body and carbonation. Impressive given the low alcohol content.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
med copper colour, clear, no bubbles, thick white head.
nose reminds me of a hoppy scottish ale. slightly acidic or coppery malt but this has a decent amount of grassy aroma hops.
thin body, creamy and slightly fizzy.
actually, it reminds me of deuchars IPA (brewdog would be horrified to hear!). it is coppery w/ some grassy hops in a sessionable 3.8%.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown beer with a medium and beige head. Aroma is malty, caramell, red berries, red currants and some vegetables. Taste is malty, some dark malts, medium bitterness, some toffee and pine needles. Medium bodied and nice to drink. Slightly unpure beer, not bad, but still this beer doesn’t convinced me.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At a mere 4.5% abv and 10 IBU’s, the name is not exactly befitting for this particular ale. That said, almost everything else about Alpha Dog is straightforward: It’s a top quality, mildly bitter-sweet American amber ale, but with a fair amount of complexity in its aroma and flavor portfolios.
It’s post-bottle life begins with its not so surprisingly rich amber color and medium-sized, yet resilient white head that speaks to my nose through the language of cinnamon, citrus and herbs; based on the aroma, I expected to find a relatively sweet-tasting creature lurking in my glass.
And indeed it is sweet, at least in the front, with hints of toffee and citrus fruits. But, I’m completely unable to find that cinnamon flavor that I repeatedly found in the aroma. As I love cinnamon, this was a bit of a letdown. It finishes with a refreshing bitterness that vanishes after a few minutes. All-in-all, this ale was a quality selection, even with the cinnamon betrayal.
