COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After two tempestuous months aging aboard BrewDog founder James Watt’s mackerel trawler on the North Atlantic, Atlantic IPA will be the first commercially available, genuine sea-aged IPA in two centuries - a project which is typical of the scale, audacity and boldness characteristic of BrewDog in its quest to take the UK beer industry by storm.

2009 Bottle - Thanks Sam! - Pours a thicker orange with a tight white head...aroma is resiny hops, dry tart oak, some caramel and some grain...flavour is similar, dry and tannic, caramel malt, citrus, with a lingering bitterness and feel that coasts the mouth...really enjoyed the beer and backstory...@ $30 a pop, split one with 5 other people and you might not kick yourself...

Bottle… Lightly hazy orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma offers light caramel and musky hops. Also picking up some alcohol, salts and limited wood. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Leans on the bitter side of balance, but very smooth and a hint salty. Earthy, but not woody. Bittersweet finish. Price should never be a factor as this site is neither affiliated with Consumer Reports nor Ralph Nader. Too expensive? Don’t buy it. Bottle generously shared by darkguardian!

glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 5, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours a medium copper with thin head. Lightly roasted caramel malts in the aroma. Very malt-forward IPA with a base of caramel, light oak, a little citrus fruit and a substantial, long lasting hop bitterness to finish. Shines with its balance and layers of malt. Medium bodied and drinks quite smoothly. Nice representation of a strong English IPA. Worth what they’re charging for it? Hell no.

Bottle at Chriso pre-GBBF tasting 09. Love the idea behind this beer and followed it on the video blog. Gold, clear thin white head. Wild subtle hop. Toffee in mouth. Some more hop on the finish, but compared with their other IPAs, this was not as good.

Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Light beige head. Aroma is caramelly and sweet. Has herbs and spice. Flavour is flowery and herbal. Has some spice and caramel. Medium bodied. Dry. Herbal bitterness in the end.

2009-09-22, tasting at Papsoe, 7-4-6-3-13=33
Hazy amber color; dusty and sandy malt aroma, old socks, a bit earthy and musky. Medium body strength, maybe less; strong bitterness, but somehow boring; ashes.

Hazy amber color. Light oak and alcohol aroma. Caramel flavor, with a too high perception of dust and grilled nuts, ending in ashes; the final bitterness is too disturbing. Too strange.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, hops, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops as well as medium notes of straw, malt, and fruits, leading to a very biitter finish.

Papsoe (22948) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 22, 2009
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a clear deep golden with a thick and lacing off-white head. Spicy, hoppy aroma. Medium body, fruity and hoppy - but not overly so. Dry, hoppy finish. The hops are not very distinct or aromatic. A bit of a dissapointment. 220909

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, yeasty amber with a awesome looking fluffy foamy white head. Aroma: A strong whiff of earthy Euro hops and an equal sized amount of sweet and spicy malts. Taste: Starts with a subtle bitterness, followed by a moderate amount of caramel malts and a layer of roasty chocolate notes. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly creamy. Overall: To date, the best BrewDog beer I have had. I enjoyed the character the beer had in its appearance and taste.
