COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
keg and bottle,special
Two years is a long time. Plus at BrewDog, we measure in dog years, which makes it feel like an eternity.
Back in 2012 we brewed this extra-small-batch prototype and rather than bottle it there and then (which we could have happily done) we locked it away in some gnarly old whisky barrels at the back of our Fraserburgh warehouse.
Before it even went into barrel, this stout had huge chocolate aromas and flavours, from the intense malt bill and cacao nibs, tempered with a roasty bitter espresso character and a spicy hop profile.
Two years in barrel has intensified the rich, round sweet malt flavours, and layered in deep chewy molasses, warming spicy brandy notes, and a liqueur coffee creaminess.
Black Eyed King Imp is an extremely small batch beer, and ultra-limited edition. This beer is worth spending an afternoon over, allowing the flavours to develop and unravel while you discuss philosophy/become one with the universe/ watch an entire box set of your choosing.
Malts: Extra Pale Wheat Cara Crystal Dark Crystal Amber Brown Chocolate Roasted barley
Hops: Magnum Willamette First Gold
Twist: Brewed with cacao nibs and coffee beans

Black appearance with hardly any head. Aroma of booze, chocolate, coffee. Sweet and boozy taste, espresso, bitter chocolate, liquorice. A very solid barrel-aged Imperial Stout.

Bottle at home. Very dark brown, very little head. Aroma: whiskey, oak, cinnamon, chocolate, chilli, lemongrass. Taste: sweet and spicy with a malty backbone, but allowing the hop character to shine through. Palette is surprisingly light for this beer, but an intense alcohol burn of the whisky comes through in the aftertaste. But still the coffee and chocolate are strongly present. A very nice BA stout from brewdog. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bouteille 33cl, no BB.

Bottle [from trade with Scopey if I remember correctly] @ weekly tasting shared with Niels. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, lightly roast, wood, liquor. Taste malts, wood, liquor, a hint of liquorice and brown sugar. Medium body and carbonation. Very nice.

A strong stout, brewed in a small batch. It has a mildly sweet taste with a satisfying bitterness. Strong aroma and aftertaste make it a really good stout.

Thanks to ElManana + 1! Dark brown, blackish. Thick syrupy, chocolate, herbal, nose, some BrewDog style hops. Taste is thick boozy, soy sauce, oyster sauce, chocolate, quite a bit whisky / spirit in here, BrewDog hops. Light wood, substantial body. Decent but too much soy sauce for my preference. Overall very BrewDog like.

Bottle. Black body with brown body. Wonderful aroma of cocoa, coffee, wood some coffee and some alcohol. Taste is also coco, coffee some dried fruits and some sweetness. Aftertaste is some alcohol some bitterness and some sweetness also some whiskey and cocoa and coffee. A little bit too sweet for my taste but a perfect desert beer.
