The beer is a 5.8% barrel-aged baby scotch ale called Bourbon Baby, which is the ideal accompaniment to this burger as the honey notes and spicy sweetness meld beautifully with the rich beef and tangy BBQ sauce. Bourbon Baby is light bodied and low ABV and packed with toasted shortcake and blossom honey flavours. We threw a load of First Gold, Willamette and Mt Hood hops at this beer and then barrel aged it for added complexity. The barrel ageing adds a demonic, dark vanilla twist. Rich brown sugar, hints of smoke, spice, chocolate and raisins are just some of the multitude of flavours that have developed.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2014 Not sure if this is really a scotch ale but I like it. I don?t get a lot of bourbon from it but it?s really quite pleasant.

Bottle. Dark copper, clear with medium, tan head. Aroma: Wow! Vanilla, much of it. Some rasins, honey, spicyness. Taste: Dry with medium bitterness. Some tannins, quite pleasant, reminding drinking whiskey. Flavor of wood, vanilla, nice slicky texture. It is something i wouldn’t expect from quite like beer. I feel like i was drinking something much stronger. Great

330 bottle at home. Pours dark marroon brown with a tiny light beige head. Wow, this is one of the weirdest beers in terms of disbalance between the wealth of the nose and the lack of body and taste. The nose is quite rich in subtle vanilla and oak. Light body with a faint smokiness, but taste is like fizzy slightly bitter water.

Keg at Brewdog aka Queuedog AGM, AECC Aberdeen, 21/06/14. Light black with a moderate tan covering that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is bourbon forward, light roast, toffee, liquorice, spice, earthy cocoa. Taste comprises subtle bourbon, light roast, hint of coffee, chocolate flakes, dark fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lightly drying close. Ok stuff but feels a little washed out at times.

Pours dark reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, vanilla, oak, roasted and chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long oak, vanilla and chocolate finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Aroma: roasted malts, vanilla and bourbon notes. Appearance: dark brown color, poor head. Taste: low bitterness, vanilla, roasted malts, dried fruits, some bourbon notes -- very intriguing and complex taste. Palate: medium body and low carbonation. Overall: Nice beer with complex taste. Recommended.

0,33l bottle, Csakajósör.
Deep ruby with a small tan head. Aroma of cask, some caramel, molasses - the cask is the dominant. Fruits in the flavor with the cask, smoke and roasted malt. Fine

Bottle, at Den Gode Nabo. An unclear brown beer with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma had some Bourbon initially, but it soon fades, being over powered by roasted malts, chocolate, some forest and a woody touch. It’s quite thin on the body, soft, and semi sweet. Roasted malts, chocolate and some wood and a faint boozy touch in the flavor. Mostly roasted finish, with a good dash of chocolate. Decent, that’s it. 140620
